It seems as though the latest OEM Hoover Convertible belt is slightly different from the previous rendition. Have any other Hoover collectors noticed this, or would you suspect a design flaw?
I purchased some more belts from the vacuum cleaner store I have always bought my belts from. The latest belts I bought (I have compared them to some other belts I purchased a while back that were unused) are slightly thinner and have significantly more elasticity. When used on an older metal based convertible, they were much easier to stretch when installing than the older belts, and, with the cleaner running, the brushroll's RPM's were much lower than with the previous belts. Could I have ended up with a few lemons, are has Hoover made their belts differently? I am also certain that there is nothing wrong with the brushroll.
