Hoover Guardsman Bagged - Discontinued?

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Yay for the Hoover Tempo! My mom's original version with the headlight was bought over 5 years ago and it's still going strong!

Maybe Electrolux will bring Sanitaire production back to the USA too?

I guess it's too late for Panasonic, huh?

No,

Panasonic has new models coming out. The Kentucky plant will remain for now.
The Hoover Tempo I recall was a small canister similar to the Eureka Mighty Mite.

Just came across this post, could anyone that knows what tti is bringing back to the States give us any more insight into what will be coming back? Bagged, bagless, new designs? Don't want anyone to over share anything that's under wraps but you know always fun to know what's up and coming.

TTI floorcare

the owners of Hoover, Dirt Devil, and Oreck is a Hong Kong company.
otherwise, those "European Americans" were the ones who outsourced to begin with after the aquisition of Hoover.
half nice day. if half the day is nice, it's a good day these days.

True.

If one goes onto the TTI website, it will tell you that "TTI, an Hong Kong Conglomerate....."

They own all of the original patents, designs, etc.

I'm not about to 'get into' anything in here. We all know, or should, by now, what its what, whom is whom, and where is where. Not getting into the N Canton Ohios mess, I stood in ALL of the HOOVER buildings...both the original ones AND TTI HEADQUARTERS. I've seen everything except a few rooms in Glenwillow. The only place I've not visited is China.
All we're unsure of is what is happening next.

Does it mean anything

To some of you that AMERICANS have jobs and that this wonderful brand is once again building vacuums in the United States again ???

So sad that some of you only care about is where the company owners are located instead of being glad Americans have jobs . I believe that is what's important and I applaud Hoover for that and many other companies that will also be staying in the United States or will be bringing companies back here to hire more American workers .

Of course we care

that Americans have jobs. That wasn't the case from 2001 through 2009, especially not around here.
So, now that our young have learned to get an education, and avoid monotonous factory work, we are better off. It's not for everyone, and a sure as the local technological university's robotic's program graduates enter the new high tech fileds, you can bet your sweet ever luvin ususus will see robots automate entire factories world wide. Humans will do jobs more beneficial to humans like healthcare, education, mathematics, software engineering, etc., etc.
In europe, many pharmacies are already completely automated.

Can't tell you how excited I am to hear about this. Hoover has been an icon brand for so many years, and its about time they bring production back to the States. I always wondered if they ever would.. This is by far the best news I've heard of in a long time!!. I can't wait to see what good things will come... Thanks for sharing, always appreciate your expertise and input on here for sure.

Times change,

are still, and will change more. Adapt, or stay behind. That's what we were told in the 80's and 90's.
Icon's come and go. The I've always had or done this job mentality is passe'.
New skills are where it will be cutting edge.
We'd have never got to the moon otherwise, but there are still a few who say that was a hoax also.

Steve

You are so welcome .

I have loved this brand as a child ,my family have owned many Hoovers throughout the years and it's how I got started in learning how to repair a vacuum . The first one was when my neighbor threw her convertible out I snatched it up and found all it needed was a switch . I then sold it back to her for $25.00 at the age of 5 years old . That's when my love of vacuums and money began .

I trashed picked so many and sold them to buy NIB vacuums I desired hence my collection which contain 99% brand new Hoover Convertibles , Dial a matics , Concepts, Elites, etc.

I am glad to bring this great news and I am thrilled to be able to own American made Hoovers once again .

I am sure many folks would rather build vacuums than sit at a desk in a boring office job!At least you are REALLY accomplishing something building the vacuums! And you may get to try the vacuum you just made or even buy it!I think it is high time to bring industrial and trade jobs BACK to America-after all that is what we specialized in before!Other countries WANTED our products-because they knew those were the BEST!Remember a newsletter I got from Milwaukee tools a few years back-some tradesmen were doing work in an office area. The works commented how the office guys left their desks to watch and asked about the trade jobs-the office folks felt the trade job would be better!-More interesting and involving-and a greater sense of accomplishment.Remember there are people that want to work with their hands and tools and build stuff than sit all day staring into a computer screen at a desk.

Dan,

It's great that you learned valuble enrepeneurship skills at such an early age.
I also learned early on how to change bags, belts, switches, brushrolls, cords, etc..
I've had quite a few, and only have 2 Hoovers left in my collection today... However, hopefully soon I'll proudly be buying a Hoover for the first time in 12 years...an AMERICAN made Hoover :-) :-)

Once I was looking at

archived threads, and one was by Dan about another post Hoover TTI item and he was praising it's designer. It has since been deleted by our webmaster.
Now common sense tells me someone has had long ties with TTI, so why weren't they made back here in the states sooner?
Now, am I the only nay sayer? I am more of a progressive. Robots will be assembling more and more consumer commodities in the future.
Now, if you want a very lucrative occupation, design those robots, and maybe build them. Assembling vacuums won't pay for a 1500 sq. ft. 3 bedroom suburban abode, but most of the working class already knows that.

Steve

Thank you for the kind words .
As a collector I am glad I self taught myself to repair vacuum cleaners , my passion which I love .
I couldn't picture myself as a collector and not knowing how to repair and upkeep my amazing collection.

I am very excited to once again be able to own a Hoover and Royal vacuum made right here in the United States of America built by hard working Americans .

Robots will NEVER be able to do all of the manufacturing work. TTI did not bring manufacturing back sooner because there was no feasible manufacturing facility available. They are a business after all and it takes a lot of capital to build or even aquire warehouse space. Oreck provided that to TTI. The original Hoover space in North Canton was run into the ground by maytag and I know a lot of people wish they would have never left there but it takes capital to up keep a building and keep it up to code.
