SPENCER the hoover convertible u4309 was famous for being the first plastic based full hooded ( concave shaped hood with colored bumper ) upright with headlight introduced in 1980 in the new u43...... series convertibles. it was a promotional model featuring the 5pc tool kit packed into the unit and was a huge model for macy's abraham and strauss and gimbels for it was heavily featured in their advertising ....i live in scranton pa and it was sold heavily at the sugermans department store in eynon....it featured the high performance 2 speed motor and the 12 blade scoop fan which gave it unbelievable suction power yet still using the bottom fill bags....it also introduced the vertical abstract multi colored design bag pattern to the hoover convertible line up .i still have my grandmothers in my store collection you can see it at sweepercentral.com.....
