I know I'm too picky been trying to work on that. What exactly is the standard length of the hose? To me it always seemed they where really long but i was pretty young the last time i had my hands on a celebrity.

You just made my decision that much harder. I didnt know the IV had a pn plug. Sadly i cant take both. Shipping for one is going to be outrageous. Got some thinking to do

2 more questions

Does the celebrity II use foam in the bottom like the QS and what thickness is best? I don't want to reduce airflow. Also will I cause damage to the motor if I use a hepa bag cut to fit as a pre motor filter?

Does anyone have the part numbers for the celebrity II carbon brushes or needle bearing. I found a hoover needle bearing online and if it's the correct one im gonna order it if they even still have any avalible

Jimmy, any update on finding the floor brush hose and extra wands for the celebrity? I know your busy sorting vacs and with your book store but just wanted to make sure you didn't forget.

Chris,

I didn't forget the Celebrity or dozens of other things I need to do.I had an unexpected trip out of town last weekend which put me even further behind. When I get interest from collectors I do want the best here to go to new homes but I would be better off with the dumpster and scrap metal yard which I also have very little time for.If anyone nearby would want to help with vac store clean out or to market the best vacs online for a fee I would welcome the help.Hoping to find Hoover hose and parts for a few other collectors this weekend.

Hoover motor carbon brushes

Will, just so you are aware, the carbon brushes used in all of these Hoover motors was just recently discontinued as of the start of 2022 by TTI. I just picked up 2 sets myself as I have a Dimension 1000. So, just a warning to anyone needing to rebuild the motor & replace those carbon brushes that you're gonna have to hunt online and in old vac shops for dealers that have stock.

Celebrity canisters are great machines.

I presently own two but had a three up until recently. I only own the power nozzle models as brush rolls are my favorite part of the machines.

Here are some of my advice tips:

Stick to genuine Hoover H bags. The Celebrity uses a 13 Quart horseshoe shaped bag and that bag with vast surface area allows it to maintain airflow better than just about any other vacuum..upright or canister.

What you can do is use a HEPA premotor filter. On the QS series series units, the motor pulls air from sides of the housing. You can create a HEPA bag material filter to fit and put a washable foam style filter on top. I use HVAC vent register filter, cut and stapled to fit You can get packs of HVAC vent register filters from any hardware store. A 10 pack is about $4 and they are cut to fit.

Older Power nozzle-- the older/ original power nozzle used Hoover Convertible brush strips and are easy to find. Brush strips for the Quadraflex models have been NLA for many years sadly.

Muffler Foam: I used 3/4" foam cut to the shape of a large donut to fit base. Get about 1 yard of foam from Joanne Fabric and cut. You won't suffocate the machine with breathable foam.

Motor Service: Celebrity motors are serviceable from the right shop. You'd need to inquire if that shop services motors. An Electric Motor service might be best. If you ever go to upstate NY, you can look up Chris at C.S. Vacuums in Oneida, NY. He can fully rebuild that motor for you if needed.

Cord Winders: Any winder can go bad but the Celebrity ones are very very durable. Many older ones are tug and release which works great. The ones with peddles can have an issue with the brake in that the pad wears out You can actually fix that with a piece of vacuum belt glued onto the brake arm to replace the old pad Kirby or Royal knurled belts work real good for that with their extra traction.

Attachments and Wands: With exception of the curved upper wand, all other tools are compatible with Hoover canisters up to mid 2000s. Some may look different but they will fit. When Hoover introduced the Hoover Dimension series canisters they came out with tools that still used the pin lock but made them more rectangular. They also adjusted the angle on some like the upholstery nozzle as the new hose style eliminated the curved wand need, the bend for that angle was built into the hose The last production of Hoover replacement parts actually had the newer style hose end with standard Celebrity connector to the suction unit.
Any Hoover tool with raised pin locking system will fit though.

Here are some photos of mine which may help.
