The vacuums really multiply. I am not into antique vacs of this vintage, but this one came home.

I am aware this is pre 50's

It is a Hoover Model 61, and the motor and light still work.

The bakelite cover is broken, the bellows is falling apart, and the bag has a worn spot on top.

It came with some tools and a caddy, and a couple of spare inner bags (vintage Hygienisac ).

Now I need to decide what to do with it. Obviously parts are almost non-existent at this point.

I am more of an Electrolux canister person, I just got a working Electrolux Discovery II upright.

Hoover ad 1940

Found this in an April 1940 Life. It mention the Model 60 was the newest cleaner.

It also mentions the FibreFelt Hygienisac bag which I know was introduced years earlier. (A disposable bag!)

I would assume the vac then is over 70 years old

Very interested. It is definitely not "too far gone ". I've restored 61s in deplorable condition. This just needs some tlc. Please email me on the site! Thanks!

Hoover61,

I'm quite sure I can beat that. Also, I do have a small arsenal of nos Hoover parts, it's not really that difficult to restore them if you know what you're doing. The motors are rather straightforward. This would make an awesome daily driver...no need to scrap it for parts.

I definitely have a spare blower. As for the model 84 rug nozzle, I do not have one. I might be able to locate one for you though. I'll keep you posted!
