....a couple of days early! I will be spending most of tomorrow getting ready for our New Year's Eve Celebration with a few friends, I may not be back on tomorrow!

Since the house was pretty well picked up (as good as it gets with two toddlers anyway) I decided to go ahead and vacuum this evening to get that out of the way! I have the touch of a headache tonight, so using a screamer like the Perfect was out of the question! After a little digging in my vac room, I eventually pulled out my trusty Electrolux XXX. I paired it with a vinyl hose, and flip over floor tool and set to work. That old machine has such a pleasing hum, it didn't hurt my head at all, and the suction was really good with that hose on it. It cleaned a 3000 sq foot house without a single complaint! I had just about forgotten how pleasing that hum of a good XXX motor sounds!

To all of our members of The V.C.C.C. and Vacuumland,

here's wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and peaceful 2016 !!

In 1989, I was at Times Square in New York City.  It rained....  was wild. Although a stupid thing to do,  I'm glad I did it... ONCE.

  SAFE celebrating, all.

I cooked the family New Year's dinner this year.

Although pork is supposed to be eaten, I'm not a huge fan. But, my aunt (has a bad cold) likes them, I baked pork chops with home made dressing (stuffing in certain circles), and home made cole slaw (my friend's late mother's recipe. Some call is cabbage salad, others just the vulgar "slaw". This was sweet as opposed to the tangy sauce made with vinegar.

I made hoppin' john (a low-country South Carolina dish consisting of black-eyed peas, rice and pork) and collard greens. The saying down there is 'eat like a pauper on New Year's and live like a king the rest of the year.'
