Hi Jeff,
Thanks for posting that picture! I'd suggest that it may be a Model 195, simply because the bag on the Model 2 attaches to the outlet differently. However, in your photo, the switch is on the left of the machine (for the user), whereas the one in Fred's diagram has its switch on the right <br
I'm sure there were details changed and alterations made to the machines throughout the small production runs, since they were hand-made. The staff must have found little ways of making improvements as they went along! <br
It's interesting how some of them seem to have been made in a small initial batch, then followed with a larger batch. I guess Hoover were 'testing the waters' to see what demand there was for each model before commiting to a large production run. It's easy to forget that they were not just selling a product, but creating market demand for a product which hadn't existed before <br
I've seen another picture of 2 early cleaners taken by a visitor to the Historical Center - a 1912 Hooverette Model 183, and a 1915 Baby Model 185. I've also read that there is a Model 3 on display - if anyone has a photo of that, I'd love to see it, since unless it also went by a different name/number, I'm not sure if it's included in Fred's scans.
