BBC News this morning . The EU has made a law that vacuums only 900 watts or less can be sold. Hang on to your collectables folks. Could you imagine that here.
BYE BYE 1600 watts.....

Reason they say anything over 900 watts uses too much energy.

One Brit commented I will have to live in pet hair, another one said they had blow dryers with more watts. Vacuum industry is trying to comply to new rules......

sounds like older vacuum just increase in value , no more 1600 watts vac dang
talk about a game changer I think ill keep my older vacs no matther what

This law doesn't effect vacuum cleaners sold outside the EU, but American vacs have always had lower wattages than many European equivalents due to your differing power supply.
