First, as a way of an introduction...I actually thought I was a member here before, or maybe it was on the washer side. I collect a lot of things, mostly old radios/TV sets. I've acquired a few vacuum cleaners over the years and recently have been trying to downsize a bit. So, here goes! First up is a General Electric canister model 8VT 813A. This includes a Roll-A-Vac cart and numerous accessories. The unit has worked fine but of course is sold as-is.

The second unit is a Universal canister model VC6702. This includes the original storage box which shows wear and tear; the top appears to have been redone at some point but needs it again. The unit seemed to work fine when I tested it; again, it is sold as-is. This includes many accessories including the sprayer. The vacuum itself looks really nice but does have a scratch on one side.

I am asking $75 each if you pick them up; $95 each plus shipping if you want them shipped. I am located on the middle of Maryland's Eastern Shore, an easy detour on the way to the MD or DE beaches. Please let me know of any questions-thanks for looking!

"FWIW" the Roll-A-Vac cart wasn't original to that GE tank nor, for that matter, a GE product at all. It was sold in vac shops, sometimes thrown in with the purchase of a new mahine to sweeten the deal. I've seen a few different brands with the cart including a Model XXX Electrolux.

The Universal is a beautiful machine, among the most visually enthralling of all vintage tanks IMNSHO.

The vinyl-covered hassocks -- in a variety of colors including dark red, blue, green, burnt orange, brown, tan and white -- were also made by a third party and were available from a variety of sources, including door-to-door salesmen of quite a few brands and also in vac shops, department stores and mail-order catalogs. I can almost think of an A-to-Z list of cleaners I've seen contained in these hassocks. One such manufacturer was the Pennant Company -- see photos.

Some vacuum cleaner manufacturers did make, or have made, custom trunks including Compact (some of them looked like little coffins!) and Filter Queen.

Thanks for the info! While I knew the cart was aftermarket I didn't know the backstory on the hassock. A pretty good storage idea, really.

Hi shore72!! I was wondering if the G.E. is still available. If so, could you post better pics of the tools that are with it and could you take less if I didn't want the cart thing, which I don't. Thanks so much, Toby G.

Toby, I still have the GE. I'll get some more pics loaded soon and see what it would take to ship it.
