GE Swivel-Top Canister Model P1C18

The Ge PN was almost the exact same as the earlier Filter Queen PN. Aside from a slight difference in the shape of the top and the addition of a beater bar on the brush roll all the parts were identical and interchangable. They even had to have an adapter to connect it to the GE wand as shown in the picture

Well as long as your happy &it's in good condition & works & more
then enjoy!
It;s when you spend & you get substandard disappoinment that sucks!

You know we couldn't even put these thing together with the cost of parts so let' s indulge in the cherishing of days gone by...

Oh mah gad...

Yes that's IT!!!!

Man im stupid. I should have saved that one. Oh well maybe they'll be another one in the future.

Ok, so the Ge used a Filter Queen Powerhead. I always wondered. I was informed that GE made it's own unique powerhead for a few years. also. I was informed also that it looked like a head from a Lewyt Electronic in style.

I guess information isn't always correct.

Thanks everyone for writing.

Chad

Shame about all that rust - probably why it didn't sell first time around. Sure would like to have those wands and tools, tho.

But even if I lived across the street in Van Alstyne, Texas, I wouldn't pay that much just for tools. :-)

Hi Chad:

Actually GE did have another power head before those were out that looked a bit like the Lewyt one. This is the only picture I have of it (on the C100)and I believe it was one of the members here that has this machine (Anyone know?) I saved the picture a number of years ago for reference because the PN was so unique

Doug, if you look at your pic and the catalog one above, see how your pictured vac doesn't have the plug in for the power nozzle showing anywhere...wonder where it is?

GE P/N

Great power nozzle, would love to find one of those!
Thanks for posting the pic...

Could the P/N plug be hidden under the cord that is wrapped around the machine?

GE PowerNozzle mania....

Oh man....

That's the powernozzle that I was thinking of. I saw this on either one of the other vacuum forums, or here LONG long ago. The powernozzle looks very Lewyt-ish, and of course has the headlight which the FQ head obviously doesn't.

I wonder who made that, or if it was a GE built head. I've never got a "straight" date from anyone on what year G.E. Left the U.S. market. 1972 or 1974. I've heard different sources. And as usual we all know that almost immediatly following their departure Premier Electric out of Cleveland, starting branding most of the previous G.E. lot of cleaners under the "Premier" badge.

I have two Premiers. One is a commercial version gifted to me by our own Jeff Parker, many years ago, and is one of my prized possessions. The other I was given by Kyle Krichbaum the TOL Green Cord Reel Upright just 6+ months ago.

I love, and are facinated by machines that aren't as popular as Kriby, Electrolux, Filter Queen, Hoover and Eureka. Not that I don't have any of the previously stated. But show me a Air-Way, Lewyt, Singer, Sunbeam, Regina, Universal or G.E. And I want to know more about them for sure.

Thanks again for dredging up a pic of that original G.E. Powerhead. That was AWESOME...

Yours

Chad

P.S. Heres a RugMasteR equipped Air-Way that I was also gifted by Kyle a few months back. The pic is bad, but It's the one I've got.

Hey Pete:

If you notice there is also no switch showing on the machine. I suspect both are on the back side. The GE name is quite plain on the hadle connection of the power head.

Once upon a time....

I had a Premier canister with a FQ style power nozzle, like new, and a girlfriend of mine talked me out of it. That was way before I realized I was destined to be a collector. She loved that machine, she had a room dedicated in her home to do alterations/sewing and loved the way it picked up all the threads, etc. She has since passed so I have no idea whatever happened to it. It was the light green on top and darker on the bottom, if I only knew then how rare it was going to be!
