Hate to trash usable stuff but I need the space very soon for upcoming spring projects.

If you own and use any of these Kirby models, one (or more) of these motor units would be great to have around for parts. We all know how expensive individual parts can be....
All of these were electrically tested and current draws verified as good. No cords, emtors, or bags included but all have handles and other parts. Most are good enough for restoration or even regular use after adding a bag assy and cord and replacing the belt and maybe the roller brush. If for regular use, I would replace the motor bearings also to ensure very long life.
Below is what I have; see pictures to see what is included.

2 Traditions - very good condition. These pretty clean and will restore easily.

2 Omegas - okay condition. They are quite dirty but should clean and shine up well.

4 Classic 1CRs - good condition. They are dirty but should clean and shine up well.

2 Classic 1CRs - fair condition. They are very dirty and are scratched up but still could be usable as vacuums

5 Classic 1CRs - parts/motors only. These are missing minor parts, castings are scratched, but working motors are intact.

One complete shampooer set for the Classic 1CR. Box is not pretty but contents looked to not have been used.

Various extra handles and loose parts pictured, plus a couple extra Heritage I handles not pictured.

First come, first serve. Based on recent experience, shipping for whole units range between $30 for one unit without the long metal handle to $45 for two entire units in a full-size Kirby box.
Parts and 1CR bare motors of course will be less to ship, depending on what you want. If you send me your zip code and a wish list I can estimate a shipping cost.

The omegas do they have bags and cords?
Do you have any classic 3 trim ex scuff plate and rear handle cover.

Over half of these WOULD restore easily with a cleaning, polishing, and addition of cords and bag assys.
If I wrote "HOOVER" on them with a crayon, would you come get them? :o)

No bags or cords for any models, nor any more Classic III trim parts unfortunately. The Classic III is one of the more desirable units and I sold out of them fast.


That pesky fan should not have been in the picture. Three blades are broke and I use it to pry armatures out of housings when they are stubborn.
Many of these parts units have good metal fans on them, hint hint. :o)

I have Sharpies, if that is what it takes. Choose your color! (I have several). I even have those big 'Marks-a-lot' markers from the 60's that will get me as high as a kite! :o)

Les, just let me know on the Omega parts units. I have a couple extra metal handles for Omegas as well that are not pictured.
 
There are 4 very nice Classic 1CRs that will be great for restoration.
There are 2 more 1CRs that can be used as vacuums but are in worse cosmetic condition. They could restore though.
Add a cord and bag assy on any of them and use them.

For a limited time only, I am willing to help pay for shipping (up to half) for these, providing you get two machines minimum in a full Kirby box. These 6 machines are to nice to scrap and are best in the hands of restorers.
Once these are gone, I will have most of my patio space back.

The Classic IIIs sold out long ago - they seemed to have been the most popular.
I currently have two Traditions. I did have a couple people interested in them, but they stopped responding after they saw the shipping cost. Not sure what to think there... Therefore I still have them.
I have 4 Classic 1CRs that would restore nicely.
I have a shampooer for 1CR too, as well as some loose parts for various models.

Now if you really want to live up to your screen name, you should take all of that I have left and help get me out of the used Kirby parts distribution biz, hint, hint... :o)


BTW, the two Omegas were shipped out, so they are no longer available.

You have no idea how much I want to take you up on that! If you were in Kentucky or any of the surrounding states, I would definitely come get them. Unfortunately, Kentucky to Texas would be a long drive, and I don't have my license yet. I want at least one of those Traditions, but I have to scrape some cash together for shipping.
 
I still have all of these except the Omegas and loose parts.

Both Traditions and four of the Classic 1CR models are in good restorable condition.

The 1CR armature and field assembly will work in a D50/D80 with some modifications. See the below thread for details.

The power and safety switches are shared between the two, also.
If you have a D50, D80, or Classic 1CR, you should get one or more of these for spare parts in case you need them. The 1CR nozzle fits on the D50 and D80 also.

In two weeks (extended due to all the rain we got), I will strip out the good parts from whatever is left.
On April 10 I will put the remains in a box out front before bulk trash pickup in hopes a scrapper gets them. Many of the castings are good but just do not have a place to store them.
 
I wish I had the money for the Tradition. I would save them, but I don't have the cashola. :( I hope someone does save them. They look like they would clean up nice.

I will attach semi cleaned up pics.
I turned on yesterday.
Unit 1 with the lexan fan im pretty sure the bearing in bottom of motor housing is bad. I got it dissembled I just have the 2 screws with washers holding coil in. I got the screws about 3/4 of the way off. I just sprayed WD 40 and letting it sit. I would love to leave the coils in but the armature is locked in by the bearing.
The metal fan one brush roll bearings are a little stiff. The bearing behind fan needs repacked. I have a blind pilot bearing extractor that will get it out. The motor and coil after I cleaned off look brand new.
I actually have 2 emtors and bags. I'm going to add a zipper and make use my fill tube and type f adapter to take Kirby type f bags.
I hesitated with the omegas. I got a g4 and 562. Those were my very first Kirby's. I then got a tradition, omega and a classic. I tore all 3 apart. I buffed them and made them all pretty. I put them altogether incorrectly. In the end I had 3 shells with everything inside toasted because I was an idiot.
I have since got classic and traditions tore apart put back together easily. These two I will have no problem making internals flawless. The body a little challenge but no problem.
I just wanted to bump the thread. I will make these omegas awesome.

Les, thanks for the 'bump', as the remainder of these things are in danger now. I really hope the Traditions and the two best Classics are claimed at least in the next week.

Glad you are progressing with the Omegas. They were cosmetically challenged, but nothing a bath and polish could not fix. I had one unit that was actually over-amping due to a stiff roller brush - you just might have the one.
Do share some pictures when you can. I knew I sent those to the right person!

I may finish both up tommorow. I did the hardest part so far. I
I do have my 9" DeWalt professional polisher. I could throw sanding padds on and get it quick. I'd use clamps holding piece to worx bench and get it done. It goes Fromm 80 rpm to 6000 RPM.
I just getting excited to finish a vacuum for first time in a while.

I may finish both up tommorow. I did the hardest part so far. I

Wow Les - you really are going out to prove that almost any abused Kirby can be brought back to a great condition! When I sent those two Omegas, I knew one would be a resto candidate, but not the other. I never imagined one would try to restore that tore-up nozzle. EXCELLENT job though!! Talk about perseverance!

If anyone wants the Traditions or the two good Classics listed here, they are not in bad shape at all. With bags and cords they would make great vacuums.

If anyone wants some challenges, well I have some of those, too. :o)
 
Les, good job on those deep scratches! sanding was required! polishing is the big challenge next for that, I have some in the same condition and thats what I did too.....sand with agressvie grit gradually going finer....wet sanding as well before the polishing
 
Yes

Heavy sanding is still required. I used 80 120 220. Then steel wool and do it again. I sanded in same direction as the scratch. Once the scratch was level with sanding I went left right when scratch originally was up down. The reason I did this was blending the metal and it goes away. I did use 800 2000 wet sand and 3200 wet sanding. Then steel wool helped blend quite a bit. It's snowing today and I deep cleaned and vacuumed with sanitaire blue line.
The buffing I have 2 6-8 inch buffing wheels. I got one wheel per rouge. I have a flannel wheel that cleans it up.
I do have the DeWalt car buffer I have wheels for. I try not to use it because a 9" buffing wheel going 3500 RPMs I have to clamp everything down so I don't kill someone.
It made the tradition, classic and Omega shine pretty quick but flipped the tradition 50 feet which I was on basement deck it was on level ground 50 feet away.
Ill finish this week. It's just 35 degrees and snowing again.

That sure is a lot of sanding! My pinched nerves would never let me do that; I would need a power sander for sure. Keep up the great work!

And like they say, practice makes perfect. I also have about a dozen more practice units available for ya! :o)
 
Doomsday for these is four days away...

Two Traditions and four Classic 1CRs that are all easy restorers (just add cord and bag assys), and one 1CR like-new shampooer set in ratty looking box. All working.
Still have some castings and salvage 1CR units but those are less important.

ALL IS FREE to a local collector/re-seller/dealer or just pay shipping. Fedex is still open and I can take it.
For local pickup I can out it all on the walk close to the house if I know you are coming, so there will not have to be any socializing. Just load and go.
Friday evening it all goes to the curb.

IF you email me please leave a phone number. Yahoo seemed to have killed my ability to send emails. I can read mails. Apparently 20 years with them was long enough...
