My understanding is that the bag on this vac is a Eureka replacement bag. I am looking for an original blue bag with white lettering possibly a cord and the grip handle to restore this back to its vintage glory! Found it at a thrift sale, the pic is pretty dirty, it will get the spa treatment soon! Model 2021, I am guessing late 60's experts can weigh in!

And upon further inspection...

I want to replace the brush roll, the 12" distributor with square pegs on each end. That will be a little tougher, any leads or suggestions on this or the above post is greatly appreciated!

Eureka

Very nice Eureka and not common with the chrome hood.Probably mid to late 60s.Others will know more.I have a blue with white letters bag on EBay now with good zipper but bad connector where the 2nd screw goes in.Your bag is probably generic replacement.I just sold a square end brush.Would have been one of if not the last one.I do have a few more similar uprights but no chrome hoods. Some very close to a trip to the scrap yard but will check handle grips first.I may have new white grips but probably no blue.(As I come to them I may still have a couple of blue attachment kits for this and earlier Eurekas.)

Thanks for the information! The brushroll I have had a cracked plastic end so I will either need a new roll Or square end pieces, I believe I found the handle grip, I will know more tomorrow!! Tough brushroll to find I am learning.

Good idea,,,

Is the bag in that listing original to that machine or is it a replacement? I thought I had found a series 2000 Eureka brush roll with square ends but it wasn't what they thought. The hunt is part of the fun right??

Eureka bag

The above bag seems to be a much later generic replacement bag very close to Eureka designs of the 70s/80s.Bag looks very good.A more common(& very good) model now seldom seen.

I've been advised....

By someone much more in the know that a vibragroomer 1 with square end caps would work in this machine well. Any thoughts on this?

One of the things I like about collecting is posting questions and seeking out information when something new comes along, such as this Eureka. Up until just this past weekend I didn't know my vibragroomer from my distribulator!

Don,

No - sadly the eBay listing is also showing a replacement bag. Hopefully we can find a nice original Eureka blue bag for your vac somewhere. But with this listing, you'll be able to get a handle grip and a Disturbulator. The Disturbulator was an excellent bar-less brush roll with three rows of bristles....excellent performance on deep pile carpets!

I had another Eureka a while back that had the bag but it was a later model. I am kind of a stickler about things being authentic and the blue bag will look great on this! As far as the brush roll, I wouldn't be as particular however I hear really good things about the distributor so that would be my preference. Did it perform better than the vibragroomer 1?

It's hard to say which one was better. Eureka uprights fitted with either brush roll often did very well in Consumer Reports testing in the 1960's and 1970's....sometimes better than the Hoover uprights being tested. But I really think the performance of those Eurekas was due to the top-fill F & G dust bags that allowed for much stronger airflow and dirt collection. When Hoover finally changed over to a top fill dust bag in the late 1970's, its uprights performed a lot better.

-attachments-?

By coincidence as I continued clearing a shelf yesterday I pulled out 2 blue complete att sets for 60s Eurekas(1 NEW,1 with very little use)for next weeks EBay.The early set has front, top mount braided hose and plate to cover nozzle.Later set has vinyl hose with converter as used through 70s,80s and beyond. Both with chrome wand and 3 atts. All but wands in blue colors. Both with picture on EBay next week.Take a look or place a bid.--If we compare Eureka & Convertible I think we might conclude that Hoover atts are easier but Eureka bag is better(than Hoover C).

Because your model has a Dial-a-Nap height adjuster, its hose needs to attach to the bottom of the motor hood, not the top as in older Eurekas from the early 1960's before the Dial-a-Nap was introduced.

You need to get a Lagoon Blue tool set that has a "pan converter" which attaches to the steel brush roll cover on the bottom of the motor hood. The hose then attaches to the pan converter.
