Filter Queen Dolly

I'm working on restoring my model 500 Filter Queen. I'm taking it to my vac shop later this week to make sure it still runs (the cord was cut off.) As long as it works, I'm also going to get a dolly and a new metal cone for it. I see one for a model 31 on ebay. Will it fit my 500?

Hi Fantomfan,
The model 31 FQ metal cone will fit your model 500.
If your 500 has the original metal cone, they can be easily sanded, painted and made to look like new.
Most parts from the 31 will fit a 500. The FQ design from the 500 to the late 31 are pretty much interchangeable.
When I rebuilt a model 500 about a decade ago, I used brown model 31 parts including handle, cord, dolly and brown gasket.

It's at the shop right now, hopefully it still runs! It is the greenish-gold model. The tank is rusted so bad on the bottom that there is now a hole. Too late to save the tank itself sadly. I'm going to buy a new tank, bumber and metal cone once I get an OK on the motor. I will then try to find a match to repaint the tank. I'm not touching the top, that part isn't that bad. I'll then try to get a new wand, the other one is badly rusted. Will post pics when done!

I have one that I can sell you to put towards your own 500. Maybe make 2 out of 1? Mine is a 500 also, at least I think. I'll post a picture of it. It would make a great parts vacuum because it runs fine, sucks hard and everything, but it doesn't have any of the attachments, just the hose. I'm shocked at how quiet these things run.

Unfortunate news...

The motor is completely shot. They said it sounded horrible when they switched it on. It's in very poor shape, and needs alot of parts so I'm going to scrap it. Luckily, I didn't buy anything yet. Some good news though, I finally got the correct fan for my Kirby 512! I've been waiting to fix it for over a year. It's a NOS metal fan from a Kirby dealer going out of business.
