I'd say,

HOOVER Constellation. Great cleaner.

Well, if you want it to be both an iconic classic, and still usable, I think Filter Queen is hard to beat. Electrolux is good too, as would be some of the Royal Power Tanks. For those, I think the 80s/90s ones were the best, but some of the older ones are definitely more "classic".

It Depends!

Although the model XXX Electrolux and Hoover Constellation are "must haves" for all collectors, if you're looking for something really powerful for daily use I would reccomend a Royal Power Tank, Electrolux G (or newer model) or a later model Compact, AirWay, or Filter Queen.
