I have one.

My grandparent's Kenmore Progressive from 2002. They bought it for their new apartment even though they already had a Whispertone 300 canister. My grandmother loves to buy things.

I don't have it anymore, but I used to have my parents' tan and green Hoover Convertible. I gave it to Goodwill almost 20 years ago when I was moving.

I also used to have a late '70s orange Eureka Princess that was my grandmother's. I've told the story of its demise on this list before, so I won't bore you with it again.

My dad bought me my Electrolux 1205 at a Goodwill store about 10 or 12 years ago. They never used it but they had one like it that dad rescued from a neighbor's trash pile when I was in high school. As his memory fades, he swears up and down that's the one I have. He doesn't remember buying mine at Goodwill.

Mom's Gsix- UPDATE

Well, just about a week ago, I finally completed mom's Gsix. I ended up having to take the whole thing apart and clean it with my G5. Long story short, I accidently tripped the Tech Drive Power Assist to full gear, because it was smashed in one place. Now, its basically a "Racer Kirby", I call it. The only reason I call it that because now it runs down the hallway at full speed. I just use it as a vac to clean out other vacuums. (I just use the hose with it)

I have 2 of my gramma's 5 vacuum sweepers. She may have had more, but i only wanted a certain 5. I almost got number 3 (Electrolux), until it was mistakenly thrown out. Number 4 is coming next year when my cousin is done with it at college. I go the Hoover Poewrdrive and the Kenmore Progressive 300. The last one was thrown out when I was 3, i think it was a kenmore whispertone upright.

My grandparents purchased an Electrolux 1521 Diamond Jubilee brand new in 1985 as their primary vacuum. They used it for several years before being persuaded by a salesman that Rainbows were better for my grandfather's asthma. Sometime in the late 1980's they purchased a Rainbow and gave the DJ to my parents, who used it as their primary vacuum from approximately 1989 until 2009. In 2009, I bought my first house, and the Diamond Jubilee was given to me to use as my primary vacuum (my mother had been persuaded at this time by a shiny, new Dyson on QVC). And so I've had the DJ from 2009-present, and it's been a reliable performer since day 1. It's pictured with my Epic 6000 and 90th Anniversary Legacy.

As a kid, I remember my grandparents also having a 1205 with a bright blue bag door (I didn't know the name of it then). The DJ replaced it, and the 1205 was sent to their RV/camper, which is where I remember seeing it first. When they sold the camper, they gave the 1205 to my aunt. I remember seeing it a few times at her house and noting how it was like the DJ, but in a different color. My aunt passed away unexpectedly in 2011, and when we were cleaning out her house, I found that she had a blue Simplicity instead of the 1205. Not sure where the old 1205 went. Maybe the motor went bad and she tossed it, or maybe she grew tired of it and wanted something new. Who knows. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to find it though. It reminded me of her and of my camping trips with my grandparents.

How I started collecting... Back in 2014, a full bag (aftermarket brand) got stuck in the DJ and wouldn't allow the machine to pop open the front door. Naturally I feared the DJ was dying because it kept losing power without signaling a full bag. I purchased the Epic 6000 as a replacement and then caught vacuum fever and bought a new Legacy. Then I discovered that the cheap-o bag was causing the Diamond Jubilee's problem. I replaced the bag with a genuine Aerus bag and had no further problems--the DJ is a champ! But if the cheap-o bag problem had never happened, I would have never started a vacuum collection (right now, I own a 1205, Golden Jubilee, Silverado, Diamond Jubilee, Ultralux Classic, Epic 6000, White/Gray Legacy (2013--purchased NOS), White/Gray Guardian Ultra (2013), and a black Legacy (2014--purchased new).

grandma's

my grandma gave me her dirt devil featherlite(light green, direct air model), and her hoover empower(gray with green headlight). i miss the featherlite 😢 but it started making a burning smell so we threw it out. the empower lasted a long time but it was soooo mangled by the end that it starred in five nights at freddys lol anyways, she said her favorite vacuum she ever had was her electrolux canister (idk what model)

the good old compact electra story

Well this is a lonnng over due story to tell time ... My grand mother had a compact c8 i think it was blue had daysy's on the side and i tought that was the holly grail of vacuum cleaners when i was a kid.I have used that particular vacuum cleaner so many times that i care to count . Now i have my own CompactC9 canister vacuum that i have restored and use every single day as my daylly driver primary vacuum . That good old compact was used for yearss in a home whit 7 childrend so it had it share of used and scrape but performe flawlessly throught out the years last i heard the blue c8 is used at the trailler to this day bought new by my uncle who sold em way back its stil retain its charms and all the original pieces a true one owner haha . So i tryed and tryed again to have the compact when she had a central vacuum put it but to no avail so i got my very own compact interstate electra c9 canister vacuum by iec whit all the original peices and made it my one owner. To this day my compact rest in a beige plastic chest when not in used stored away from any thing that could fall onto it i treat like like my rolls royce the compact is what got me into vacuum cleaners . Cant Beat A COMPACT ELECTRA IEC C9 CANISTER VACUUM WHIT CYCLONINC ACTION AND COMPACT TURBO BRUSH :) i hope you enjoyed my story yall have a good day :)
