Here's a GORGEOUS, STUNNING, INCREDIBLE Electrolux Model XXX currently on eBay at $405.00 that has another day to go. It's 100% complete and original with many of the optional accessories and paperwork. I hope the seller gets a really good response to this beauty. I've been drooling over it ever since it was first listed. It's without a doubt the finest XXX that I've ever seen on eBay.

Agreed, what a beaut.....why a premium though for paperwork that he says is not original to that particular machine? I also think he's polished all those pieces and the machine. How could that machine and accessories maintain that kind of luster/polish after all this time? Even in the desert that finish would have faded a bit. Call me a cynic, but in this case, why not be 100% truthful and reap the rewards for a wonderful polish job and accumulation of accessories and paperwork??

The ad reads like a 'little old lady from Pasadena find'.....

I have found a few vacuum cleaners over the year in similar condition and some in even better condition. Sometimes people had a second vacuum cleaner for use as an upstairs machine or at a summer cottage and it was infrequently used. Or perhaps a vacuum cleaner was given as a bridal gift that was put away and never used because the newlyweds already had one.

Some years ago I found a Singer R-3 in absolutely brand-new condition. It was only occasionally used in a mountain vacation home. When the owners passed away their estate went up for auction, including that stunning Singer. (See photo.)

As for literature with this XXX, most of it is original to that version -- the only things that are not original are the early black and silver instruction manual -- which actually is from an earlier version -- and the post card which came from a museum in New York who mounted an exhibition of Streamline-era household artifacts about 25 years ago. The exhibit may still be showing -- I don't know. (See link.)

Yeah, I get it. I just don't think it was found like that....low 'mileage' maybe, that metal luster, no. Beautiful machine & acessories, don't believe his pitch.  And with a machine this spectacular that will obviously sell itself on appearance alone(not provenance), there's no reason to be less than 100% honest.  Call it a gut feeling.......happy to be wrong in this instance.

For me, the literature brag is only eye-popping if it's original to the machine and he clearly states it isn't along with some accessories.

I think it would be rude and bad form to ask him about my assumptions...especially if I'm not interested in the machine. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong in this case.

Charlie makes a good plea that the guy is a straight shooter, so I'll just acquiesce.

P.S.: Something many people may have overlooked on this Model XXX is that it has the very first model of the automatic cord winder.

The first model was branded "Cordamatic," the company that manufactured them for Electrolux. See first photo below, from the listing.

Very shortly after the cord winder was introduced, the brand name on it was changed to Electrolux with their distinctive logo. See second photo below, found on Google.

It's just gorgeous. A museum-quality piece for sure. I would suppose any collector of Electrolux would be very happy to have it.

I know the seller personally from the old VCCC, and have always found him to be honest, straight-forward, and an upstanding person.

No ruder than making such speculations in a public forum, where potentially interested parties could conceivably be persuaded away from bidding in light of such misgivings being presented...

I also said it was just a gut feeling and that I hoped I was wrong. That eliminated the definitive and made it subjective....just an opinion to be discarded at will. I assure you that my baseless opinion will not make any influence whatsoever on that sale....'nuf said.

The seller is a personal friend of mine, most know him, he is a long time member who has run into some hard times right now, he asked me if I was interested in buying it, I told him I would love the machine, but because of some health issues right now I wasn't sure what was going to happen with me, so he listed it on eBay. I have seen and used the machine in person, it is truly gem, the hose is 100% perfect, there is not one drop of suction loss in it, it is as close to new as possible. Non of the attachments or aluminum have been polished with a buffer, he might have shined them up a bit with Nevrdull or another polish. Who ever gets this machine will truly be 100% happy with it, it is as close to new as your going to get. The seller is a very reputable man who lives in the north east and has gone to a few of the conventions when they are in our area, most of his machines are near perfect. I have known him for over 25 years now and have never known him to sell anything bad. Whoever buys this gem will be very happy with it.
