Singer Vacuum on Ebay

I seen it last week and I seen it go unsold just now with 20 seconds left. If I could afford it - it fits nicely in my budget (I don't spend over $45 on any vacuum on eBay and that includes shipping). I'm currently bidding on an office printer so that's where my money is going this week.

It's not too interesting to me other than the fact it's a Singer which I do not have any of those in my collection.

I had one of those only in a rust color and badged Kenmore. I bought it I want to say new for $30..it was the bottom of the line but I wanted it for canister duty as my upright was a new Kirby Classic which I loved for weekly carpet cleaning but hated changing it out for the occasional attachment use. I was pleasantly surprised by its performance.

That machine is a Henry Dreyfus design. It uses a single fan motor made by Singer, a copy of the Lamb motor used in Eureka and other contemporary machines. The single ply bags did clog fairly fast, but they were as good or better than other genuine bags on the market. The exhaust air comes straight out of the bottom in a strong blast. The switch is kind of hard to get to. All in all, it was a decent cleaner - certainly better than a Shetland-Lewyt. The Singer version was gussied up with really nice attachments and a deluxe hose. The Kenmore version had bottom of the line attachments - but the cleaner was essentially the same. Except for color. And Price. The Kenmore was $30. The Singer was $69.
