Can someone clarify for me what ESP means? I've always assumed that ESP (extra suction power) meant that the vacuum had a taller fan compared to a non-ESP Eureka. Is that right? Anyone have any pictures of the two fans so I could tell the difference? Is the actual fan chamber in the ESP vacuum deeper than the non-ESP vacuum, and can you fit an ESP fan in a non-ESP vacuum, or vice versa?

Lastly, are both the 1934A and 1934B ESP?

Sorry for all the questions.

There are several single speed 'ESP' Eureka uprights. I'm not sure that there is even a difference from a normal upright though.

I have never seen a single-speed ESP Eureka. I thought that the Extra Suction Power setting on the power switch allowed the user to switch to high speed for stronger airflow and faster spinning brush roll.

The ESP's had the first 6amp motor as well....

They jumped from the 3.5 amp two speed to the six amp two speed. I bought the 2 speed green colored one with a chrome handle. I have seen them with white handles, but hardly ever with the chrome...

I have a 6.5 amp single speed, model 2330. I think it has more suction than a regular machine, and it has the shorter fan (maybe 1/4" shorter than a 7 amp Sanitaire fan).

"just a gimmick"

This is so sad. A large manufacturer like Electrolux/Eureka had to resort to using a feature-name without providing the feature to the consumer in order to cheapen the product. I guess it's similar to the surprise I had when I read that some Hoover "WindTunnels" do not actually feature the real WindTunnel brush cavity with the segregated air channels.

These guys spend all those years touting a feature to the buying public, then do the "bait and switch" years later by using the feature's reputation without providing the feature. *sigh* :-(
