Electrolux's Finest- PRE 1980

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I was going to say the G, such a lovely vacuum and a great one at that.

I picked the XXX because its just so iconic.

Without a doubt

My choices:

The 1952 Electrolux Model LX.  In my opinion, it is the most beautiful Electrolux vacuum ever produced.  Innovative new ideas, great power, and a magnificent design.  However, it was not a very practical vacuum.  Much too heavy and did suffer from premature bag ejection. (I did say ejection).  A great example of machine age design.

The absolute best pre 1980 Electrolux vacuum cleaner is the Model G.  The Model G was not only visually beautiful and streamlined, it was powerful, quiet, efficient, and built to last. Everything a quality vacuum should be.  It is and always will be an iconic vacuum.

A great day to all,

Richard

Like all three XXX, Auto F and G. Have all three. Use the XXX in my Florida house and the G as daily driver in New York. Great machines. My XXX is over 60 years old and still runs as good as new. F and G have super suction.

What do you think of Hoover? Have a few convertibles and just bought a new one from massagemiracle on ebay. Just waiting for it to arrive. They pair great with the Lux!

Pre-1980 Favorites:

ALL OF THEM! LOL But seriously, I think the turquoise Model L with PN-2 is the best cleaning machine. The Model L with the plastic bag chamber (1968 and newer) has the best airflow of any Lux machine, and the PN-2 was designed to be effective when used in conjunction with a cleaner outfitted with a 535 watt motor.

Of course, the Model G is probably the quintessential example of Electrolux quality at its best. Gorgeous in design, powerful suction, and whisper-quiet. The Model G is only paralleled by the Model XXX, which, in my opinion, is the machine that introduced Electrolux as a brand of choice for so many homes for so many years.

Id have to say the Electrolux Hospital Model G,,in Bronze and white, with matching PN, and tools. (Altho ive never owned or used one, have only dreamed if it)
And, im extremely fond of the 1975 Electrolux Golden Jubilee, with the blue 50th anniversary sticker on the back of the machine, and top of the PN. Its one of my childhood vacs (Grandma bought one new in April of 1976),,has a very special place in my heart.

The model G in any of it's forms: turquoise, tan or hospital version.

I use my G fairly regularly with a new, genuine Lux pigtail hose and a P/N 6. It is very quiet and light weight. I can carry the vacuum as I move along. Very nice and it has the wonderful exhaust smell unique to the G's.
