Electrolux - Renaissance Colors

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I agree with you that there is a lack of business acumen at Aerus LLC. That is likely a result of the lack of training and a misdirected mission of profit over people. Beyond that, it seems that Aerus suffers from a lack of integrity.

For example, it would seem that Aerus has discarded many of its old records (e. g. incomplete product history, and unwillingness/inability to give customers basic information on products). I wish they would just say that they have gotten rid of their records instead of saying that it's against their policy to give out information to individuals. Also, business persons of integrity do not engage in manipulative selling practices just to boost their profit margin. Correspondingly, customers should be taught how to use their machines. I can't believe the number of machines--some vacuum cleaners but mostly shampooer/polishers-- that are listed online as "never been used" or "hardly ever used". This tells me that the machine was "thrown in" (not really desired by the customer) to make a sale, or the customer was hoodwinked into thinking that it was something they needed. I can't believe that Aerus, or Electrolux before them, didn't even sell a wet vac with the floor scrubber. So you either have another expense of a wet-vac, or you need to come up with your own method of picking up the dirty water from the floor. Anyway, I'll bet that Aerus has never put out customer surveys to determine the desires of customers--it doesn't match their style.

As for the colors, Tom, I think I've finally figured them out--thanks for your help. Would you say, then, that the C104A is a two-toned gray (with light gray trim)? What color is the trim of the C104H?

I'm guessing that the C104A ran from 1994-1996, and the C104H ran from 1996-1998. Is that correct?

What colors were the Epic 8000 SR that replaced the Rennies?

After I posted my last comment I thought I should add that I'm sure that there are excellent Aerus franchises out there and independent contractors, like Tom and John (Tig21er), who put people over profit. I don't mean to lump them with the other group. In my personal experience, though, I have not met as many Aerus people who have a good business acumen and integrity. I will say, too, that one person in particular at Aerus Corporate has been very friendly and eager to provide information; so it does depend on who responds to your emails.

Here is an example of integrity: An eBay seller recently gave me a partial refund on shipping when he figured out a more economical way of boxing the item. It was totally unexpected and very much appreciated, and I told him so. He definitely earned the 5-star ratings I marked.

Maybe integrity is just following the Golden Rule as someone else pointed out on another thread: "Do to others what you would want them to do for you." That's what that eBay seller did, and I told him I would pay it forward.

Kevin,

I'd probably call the trim on the C104H Bronze, seems most accurate to my eye. Dates are correct as far as I can determine - nothing I find contradicts that. The Epic 8000 was Oyster and Gray. I had one of those until it spontaneously combusted (in reality the hose shorted at the front of the machine and melted most of it together. The machines with R bags are not amongst my favorites.

At the end of the day, the lack of integrity, misinformation and general lack of business acumen have driven me to leave. Love the products, but not the company so much. The more I think about it the happier I am with my decision to move on.

I just sent out a package for a eBay purchaser where I'd offered free FedEx SmartPost... but when I saw it was going to take 10 days for delivery only 800 miles away, I spent the extra $3.50 and sent it Priority Mail. Purchaser was overjoyed and I feel good about getting his purchase to him in a more reasonable time frame.

Tom,

You sound like a person with integrity. I appreciate that along with all the information you've provided.

For Aerus's sake I'd hope that you would get your own franchise someday--or better yet get into corporate, so you could turn things around.

If things keep going the way they are Aerus is going to end up with a black eye--unfortunately bad news travels quicker than good news.

Regarding the Epic 8000 SR's color, Aerus refers to it as "light sand gray"--according to its product history. Go figure.

Thanks Sleepdoc... I was driving myself crazy trying to remember what the light gray was called... Fog it was.

Fog was also the main color (along with black) of the Model C141s--Make 2100 (the earlier canisters were Model 2100s).

So if I have this correct these are the colors of the following machines:

Renaissance/C104A: Gray/Fog trim

Renaissance/C104H: Oyster/Bronze trim

Epic 8000 SR/C133A: Lt. Sand Gray/Fog trim
