Electrolux Golden Jubilee

Help Support VacuumLand:

The early 1205's were teal and began production in 1968. I believe the "Golden J" came at the very end of the 1205's run in the mid-'70s, briefly overlapping its successor, the model 1401, which was introduced as the "Super J" with the same golden anniversary color scheme as the "Golden J". The 1205 was dropped in about 1974.

I was referring to the 1205s, this has nothing to do with the Golden Jubilee.

There were 3 variations of the 1205, I have the first, smooth body, Teal the front door has both connections for the electric on the hose. You can use the newer style Super J type hose or there is a small flap at the bottom of the front door that you can plug in a pigtail from the hose or just the wire strapped to the hose.

The first series, when you open the front door the bag pin is round, the second and third series the bag pin is square.

IF YOU HAVE THE ROUND PIN YOU HAVE THE SLIDE SWITCH, IF YOU HAVE THE SQUARE PIN YOU HAVE THE CONTACT SWITCH.

In reply #17 I don't remember even mentioning the Golden J.

No need to yell, man. Peace. This is a thread specifically about the Golden Jubilee (not about the teal 1205), and the Golden Jubilee is technically a 1205 too. I was just asking for clarification since you didn't specify which early 1205 you were referring to (an early teal or an early Golden J, which is the topic of the thread). I assumed you meant the teal machine, but the fact that the Golden J is also a 1205 muddies the clarity a bit. Thanks for helping. I haven't owned my Golden J 1205 for long enough to compare it to my teal 1205.

While we're off-topic talking about the teal 1205s, I believe that there are possibly more versions than people are aware of. Here are a few that I've noticed, minus years and minus handle clips. The changes are underlined.

1. Smooth body, PN-1, bright teal front door w/ pigtail, red pinstripe around the exhaust door and Electrolux logo, black Automatic Control panel.
