Need some help fellas... just got a Genesis on ebay and want to know what kind of attachments go with this unit. Is there a port for power to the sidkick or it is non powered??

Also, cant read the model number so im unable to download the manual.

Drop me a line if anyone has the same unit sitting in their collection... I know someone has to LOL

Thanks Jay

Yes!

Electrolux sold a an attachment kit that connects onto that knob on the top of the bag chamber. If you bought the electrified hose kit, then yes, you can run the Side kick. The electrified hose connects suction-wise like a normal hose, but is electrified by connecting into to cord on back-let me do some more research and get back to you on that!

Hello Jay,
that machine was also the Epic 3000 I have one in the collection that is in some need of help lol. good machine though! the genesis is one of my dream machines to be found.

now to answer your question...

I am not sure as to weather or not this machine had the electric port on it.
I posted a link to a hose and attachments for you Below! now I know that they are not genuine but work great! another thing to add is that these machines will lose airflow as they fill up and become very weak at the hose. Other than that it is an excellent machine!

Thank you Super Sweeper - Due to the listing they didnt go into great detail. Looking around I see some have the electric cords and some dont? I may just have to wait till I get the vac :(

AND

Thank you also electroluxxxx - That looks like a great addition and a long hose. Yes this one is in need of some TLC too. Thats why I got it for 24.00, says it needs a motor for the brush but the vac it self works great... as per the listing.

Do either of you know what the diffrenc would be in the LX (mine) to the LXE?? wonder if the (E) is for the powered hose LOL

I did Research!

Yes, you CAN use the side-kick with your Genesis! That grey thing on the bottom cord wrap appears to be the plug for the electric hose connection. I found this photo by fellow vacuumland member KLOVELAND- In which you can see the Genesis style electric hose and the plug which connects into that little gray socket I pointed out!

Now all you need to do is purchase the electric hose!

I hope this helped!

Plug

in for the electric hose is at the back at the bottom right of the handle. Plug port at the lid is where you put the hose into. Side kick is available with the deluxe attachment set . Before getting a motor for the brushroll make sure the reset button is pushed. It is a safety switch when something gets caught in the brushroll and shuts motor off protecting the belt from breaking. If you need an attachment set let me know and I will see what I can do for you.

Yea it does look like there's a port for something!!!! Yes ebay has a couple I really like and for not much. A small gamble, but hell I can use the sidekick with my Marquise canister

Thank you for the info tig21er ... I was able to zoom in on mine and others and saw the port more clearly. It's possible too that the power switch is faulty in the 3rd position to run the brush roll or it's the motor. Was able to purchase a good looking caddy of accessories for 33+shipping so looks like I'm all set, but thank you for the offer just the same!!!

this machine should have a reset switch on the rear of the machine, if it is not there then it should be located at the top of the nozzle. if the switch has not been triggered then most likely it is the motor and I think I might have a spare!

electroluxxxx - I will test it out and see whats what on the vacuum. If you do have one let me know for sure and we can work out payment and shipping!!

Electrolux offered a longer electrified hose that has a pigtail off the connector that goes into the top of the bag door on the upright and plugs into the connector next to the base of the handle. Then you could use your sidekick with the upright. Or if you're really bored you could run a power nozzle off of your upright.

What is the big difference between the Genesis and the older Discovery. I had a Discovery once great machine. Anyway great find.

Vacufinder

there really is no difference with any of them. They either have headlights or powerhead outlets... The most common feature with most models is the bag check indicator. Motors and construction seem to be all the same

All arrived

So got the vacuum and just today the accessorie kit. After I assembled the vac I turned it on and everything works ... Light and brush, previously stated it didn't work. But I think it's in need of a new belt as it sounds really ruff and not the typical Electrolux sounds of a PN. Might be a bearing too?? Accessories work great and the suction is ok. Bag isn't that full but may need a few new filter. All in all not a bad vac I like that it's lighter then my hoover windtunnel that I use to clean houses with. This may be my new vac for just that as I don't want to use my sanitaire I just bought. It was new and missing the handel screws ... May turn around and sell that, it to was a cheep find at 90$ free shipping 😃

Anyone got an idea about the ruff sounding power head? Also needs a new bottom plate ... Anyone got on just laying around?

Cheers Jay

Quick question - when you turn the unit over so the bottom of the unit is up can you take your fingers and move the brush roll, does the brush roll move up and down (meaning twards the opening and twards the top of the housing)? If it does the bottom plate may be welled out and the brush is moving up and down in the housing making noise.

I think a replacement bottom plate is still available.
