I recently bought an AP-100 at a very low price because it didn't run at all. I haven't had a chance to see it before I bought it, so I took a chance.

When I got the machine, it was opened and I could see that the wiring has been modified.

I will post pictures of the wiring later if needed.

The other thing I noticed that was wrong was the small rubber thingy under the front cover (see picture). It was totally flattened. I worked hard to reshape it round, with minimal success.

The machine didn't want to run after I put it back all together.

My first question is: could that rubber tube prevent the motor to run?

Hey

I might be wrong but that looks like the exterior of what once was a power cord it uses the plastic sleeve to slide through opening. I'm probably wrong but idk.

If the rubber tube is the culprit, would the bag light brighten up anyhow or would it cut the current to the light too?

The bag light was OFF when I tried the machine.

Hey

Notice his wires there organized. If you also notice clips on wires very smart. If you don't have yours like his I'd route wires and run like his. If and when in the future will be easy.
If you have little pieces of tape label wires. These little details make a huge difference when you or someone else works on it. It will take a few minutes instead of hours.

If the light is off means the vacuum must have a bag .If LIGHT IS ON means No bag no power electrolux ap serie shut the light off and turn on whit a bag only ru n whit a bag never runs whit no bag odd give mea pic and more info

Hey

Switches don't usually go out. It's a switch. You could connect to wires see if off position no power should go through open switch power goes through. You can test but it's operator error usually not switch.

Hey

Dude your Motor looks like it has been around the block and put away wet. The copper coils are loose, carbon brushes look like they have never been changed, corossion mildew and rust. It's every where. Tell me the old motor is pic 7 and it goes backwards otherwise Im no expert but if that motor runs it won't for long .
Les

All pictures are of the same motor, ahah ! Picture 7 shows the more how bad it is , hey !

I even wonder if I should spend time trying to fix it, what do you think ?

Hey

Idk I'd unwire it blow the crap off. Get sandpaer and clean metal parts of motor. Just clean all rust and build up off. You can pressure wash it. The key being make sure it's completely dry. Once dry then try it.

It honestly looks like somebody replaced the motor (with a really nasty one), but chopped and spliced the wires instead of just unplugging them.

If it's a one speed motor, just find the two wires that run it and hotwire it directly to 120v, see if the motor does anything.

Hey

The coil looks done for. Idk might need new motor but cleaning it up and drying it will help alot. I am going to mention something weird. Go to parts store get best degreaser they have. Go to car wash dump degreaser all over everything and power spray. Continue this a few times and the motor would look Clean and brand new.
I mean shiz look at it. It will make motor work if it's going to work. It will clean up wires.
Wash at car wash a few times until motor is in excellent condition. Dry it completely.
Then wire it and it should work.

Don't listen to mad men he's crazy. All up in here talking like he is an electrician.

Oh and if you have any skills rip old wiring out and rewire correctly.
