The one up in the future "gallery" isn't as nice. It was sheer luck to find this, as I never drive through that area, as a rule. It was a beautiful, clear evening, not dark yet. I planned to take a shortcut, get a Coke, open the moonroof, get on the turnpike, set the car on cruise control, and zip on home. (Aren't I WILD)?
This vleaner is also refered to as "The Agnes Moorehead HOOVER". Lavander was her favorite color. HOOVER made this for her, as she was close friends with the HOOVERS.
This cleaner sounds great. It needed a new belt. The house out of which it came is newer than the vacuum. I believe this was 1963. Those houses were 1970s. Someone either is moving, or, got some new cheap plastic thing. I always believe in sharing as much as I can. Even when I acquire a nice item, I like to show, not brag. We all have choce pieces, isn't it nice to "present them"?

I had heard the Agnes Moorehead story before but wasn't sure if it was true, or just an urban HOOVER legend. Those are my thoughts as well as to why such an awesome Hoover ended up in the trash, not "old or new money" LOL! SO glad you drove by and spotted it! Sometimes the best Hoovers are curb finds, and that's what makes the restoration even more rewarding! It's fun to bring an old Hoover "back to life"! Alwyays love seeing pics of your collection!

Fortunate find and looks good. An intelligent person with life experience will look after and maintain what they have not only to make it last but to honor the hard work and personal sacrifice to purchase an item and protect the investment. Their loss is your gain.
 
AGNES LIVES!!!!!!!!!!john ....it is Gods tapping you on the shoulder for all the good things you do for others on a daily basis aside from your hoovers that brought this good fortune to you.....agnes mooreheads friendship with lucille ball who was like asister to henry dryfuss who then befriended agnes led to the creation of one of hoovers biggest selling uprights of all time......OUT OF ITS OLD LIFE WHERE IT WAS UNAPPRECIATED AND INTO YOUR CAR .....YOUR HOUSE .....YOUR DISPLAY WHERE IT IS TREATED LIKE A JEWEL.....YOU SNEAK......NO WONDER WHY YOU WOULD NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE CAR TO SHOW IT TO ME......IT WOULD BE LIVING IN MY SHOWROOM......HERE YOU WERE JUST AT TTI WITH MY PARAMOUNT WHOSE MINDING THE STORE HOOVER 33 FROM THE MOVIE WHERE IT WAS PREMIRED..AND THE GOOD LORD PLANTED ONE IN YOUR TRUNK......AWESOME.......I AM NOT KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES'S I AM THE JONSES COMES TO MIND ON THE NEW VS OLD MONEY.....I WILL TAKE ANY MONEY AT ANY AGE....

Sorry to have insulted you Kirbyloverdan, I said the well-off and wealthy are OFTEN, NOT ALWAYS, I DO actually know that there are many people with money who treat their homes and possessions like they should. We have people here with money who are not as educated and sensible as your family. There was a kitchen redo in the wealthy section of Port St. Lucie, of a Four Year Old Kitchen, the owner demanded it all go to the dump, NO salvage, PERIOD.

insulted , It`s just that nowadays everyone seem`s to be beating up on the Rich

and well to do . Most of them have worked all their lives very hard starting with

nothing and now have all they could ever have dreamed possible . If it wasn`t for

the rich like the Hoovers we would not be enjoying our collections as we do today .

To me there is nothing better than the American Dream and of course Vacuum`s .
 
Hoover 33

This was one I thought I would never find in good,complete condition.And when I did I had to pay one hundred pennies more than above!I went to an auction house on the weekly estate auction day and there it was.Waited untill they asked who wants what item put up from row 3.Bid $1.00 and was not outbid!--Jon,Probably have at least 1 duplicate,not sure condition or bag.Will look if interested.--Old Money,New Money AND Generation Gap--Part of above comments may also relate to a 'generation gap'.I saw an example recently when an older lady brought in a gray(1982)Elux B-8 for a simple problem.I made the comment "That is the best ever shampoo/polisher".Her grown daughter standing behind looked down her nose at it and said"It IS ?!?!"So if you drive by her house when the day comes for the daughter to make room in the closets for more Chinese WalMart merchandise you may get a very nice B-8.

That is very kind! Email when you have a chance! I am on the mother's side of the generation gap. I find that older machines are well built and will last forever!

@dan, no one is "beating up on the rich". As aforementioned in my earlier post, which was also echoed by Greg, the discussion of money and "affluence" is in rather poor taste. So why not drop the subject?

anyone on here is . I hear it everyday that`s my point .I am not discussing

anything about money or afflunce just the fact that the two types of money people

are not bunched into the same group . I will NOT drop it I am in America and have

every right to freedom of speech ! Plus I am a paying member .

OK, this stops right now. I'm not going to allow this thread to escalate into a pissing match about who said what and who meant what and who inferred what. Knock it off and stop instigating, hooverboy81.

What a stunning example of a great HOOVER!

Whenever I change the belt in any of my Vacuum Cleaners I make sure when I'm resting it on its front it DOES NOT get marred.
