does anybody have or know about the compact upright vacuums i think they were made by eureka they had a big chrome hood with black trim i think a red bag not real sure on bag i know i have seen one or two a friend of mine says im crazy they never made one do any of you know for sure or i am i just crazy. and thinking i saw something i didnt hes got me doubting myself his dad sold compacts years ago.if anyone has a pic will you post it please so i can prove a point thank you.

Seems like i DO remember once seeing a re=branded Eureka made upright in the usual Eureka style that had the Compact logo on it. Was probablly made at the time before Compact had a PN to go with their cannisters? Dont know for sure, but i do remember seeing an upright with the Compact logo.

I think Eureka did a lot of private labels like that at various times - I once came upon a Silver King upright on eBay, too. It looked like a Sanitaire, so much so that I thought it might have been a fake of some kind, but it turned out to have been a private-labeled Eureka (who also made Sanitaire until recently).

Colby, could you post the link to the auction? I cannot find it...ugh. I had the Silver-King version once in beautiful condtion, but sold it at one of the conventions.

The Compact Upright was made at the same time as the gold colored C-8. It was built by Eureka, but featured "venture air jets", which were nothing more than holes drilled into the front of the machine to allow air to flow when used on long shag rugs.

The Silver King upright was actually a Universal upright, but Silver King bought the dies and tooling after Universal went out of business.

There was a sleek Compact upright which was a clone of a late 1970's Eureka moss green Continental upright. The hood was stainless steel and the bag was Sanitaire Red.

Silver King Upright

The Silver-King upright I had was definitely a Eureka re-badge, in the colors of the Compact upright, but had the standard rounded hood in chrome with a headlight and metal foot switch. I liked it because it was a late enough model that it had the 6 amp. motor. If my memory serves me, I believe Louis R. bought it, but I usually sell a couple of vacuums at conventions, and could've been someone else.

See thread 6963 from 2009....

I believe this is the vacuum your thinking about. This thread has a few pics of it. I hope this helps!
