Compact model C2

Hi guys! Need help with my model C2. Apparently there must have been something thicker on the front end of the machine bag cover post because the cover doesn't want to stay closed. All there is now is a pin. I wound a rubber band and a twist tie to enlarge it and it seems to lock down properly.

Can anyone who has one tell me what was originally there? Thanks!

I would think there might have been a hollow metal barrel that went over the pin? Just a guess.

Thanks for that info! You may be on to something! I am going use the outer jacket of a round replacement cord along with the outer jacket of the black or white lead first in order to layer it. This should work or I may look at the local hardware store for that metal barrel. I have seen those! I will keep you posted! Thanks!

if it wont stay close you need a new latch there are available on ebay i think il look for you theres nothing to add i own compact and tristar comon problem just needa new latch or bend it the right way

Thx Vaco......funny thing is the latch isn't bend or distorted. At least, I can't see anything wrong and I have a good eye! I will take your advise and try that!

try bending it do yo u have the cloth and paper bag isntalled it needs both might be the pin the holds the latch to be stuck check it
