Car Boot Sale Find (Sebo X1.1)

I would like a Miele washing acne when I'm older & ave my own place. I like the idea of a Honeycomb drum & all of the wash programmes.

Well of course the SEBO's have to match the decor to which floor they will be cleaning on lol. Dirt devil handy think I had one of them once! Easier to do the stairs with hey!

I'd like a Miele washing machine next time they look the business plus last a long time I believe. Having looked into the Miele S7 before I brought one now I want to replace it with a SEBO X I feel I shouldn't of got it to start with....do like the Miele brand though still!

That seems to be a European thing. V Zug and some Bosch machines do it too.

Jon, I can't wait for the Miele matching set to be next to eachother, they do look rather lovely. They really are incredibly sturdy and reliable machines. I got 10 years parts and labour on mine.

The Dirt Devil handy really is fantastic for the stairs, especially as we have 2 flights and a long haired cat.

Yes, the washer door opening on the opposite site must be a European thing. We could do with a machine that does that though.

Chris I bet you can't I'd be the same. Bet they will look lovely once together. When I've researched them seen video on them they certainly do. That's good peace of mind just incase. I paid extra for the 10 year on my S7 but have got a refund as not used it being I'm going to part with it!

I bet comes in handy wish I'd kept mine. Keep thinking of getting a hand held for the stairs and cars but the Felix is ok at mo!

You must understand I couldn't leave the Sebo there! Then the seller tried to sell the rest of his fleet of his 'hoovers' to me for £50 but I resisted & just got the Sebo & Vax. Just sold the Vax for £35 & bought the Sebo spares for £20. It will be worth to get the X1.1 running again. Fab machine IMO.

No of course not I wouldn't of either. I bet they did thinking you would buy them all! Good you resisted bet your glad you got that SEBO in the end. That's good you sold the Vax, least the spate cost less than what you sold the Vax for. It sure will be nice to see the X1.1 running again. They certainly do look a fab machine I agree. Although I've only used an X briefly in John Lewis. I do like them. Hopefully will have one myself soon! Hopefully you guys have helped me decide on which one to get!

It was quite funny actually because my Mum's friend came to our stall & I said that I had got two vacuums & she was like 'What's a Sebo?'. Due to the company being quite small in comparison to other Vacuum Cleaner Companies most ordinary folk have no idea what Sebo is.

I would love a Felix one day, but the D2 first!

Hope when you get an X1.1 Jon that it treats you well & makes Vacuuming a pleasure!

I like that little story...cool. Your certainly right there I find that when I mention SEBO people look at me gone out as to say who or what is SEBO! But suppose like you say they are a small company so not everyone knows about them.

The Felix is a great vacuum I do love mine one of the best vacuums I've ever had. Had it over 6 years no issues just performs time after time. Great versatile machine worth getting one when you can in the future. Of course your D2 first, hope you enjoy your new D2 when you get it and love using it.

I hear "What's a Sebo?" quite a lot. It's funny really, as Sebo are kind of secret pioneers. I mean, they were the first upright vacuum ever to incorporate an on-board hose (a feature which is now standard on all vacuums), the first upright ever to feature a clutch controlled brushroll and toothed belt and the first vacuum ever to feature hospital grade, S class filtration and now the whole world is obsessed with HEPA.

To say that Sebo are not that well known, they've made a huge impact on the market.

I'm always impressed when people know who Sebo are. My father in law was incredibly impressed to find I had a Sebo. "Oh, they're good! They use them in a lot of hotels, you know" were his exact words. A colleague of mine knew who they were as well, as her parents had a pub and would use nothing but Sebo cleaners.

Well, I think it is like specific household appliances, Chris - cue the table mixer. The 1970s in the UK may well have been home to the superb Sunbeam Mixmaster machines, but it didn't take long for the more robust Kenwood Chef to quickly find more favour.

Kenwood's Chef was built from a commercial unit and domestic versions - I don't think they were entirely responsible for the table mixer design, but they took the design and made something better out of it. Even now, spares are available for the A901 model made in the 1980s.

I guess at one time you also could have said the same about Numatic - before they launched Henry in 1981 they were just a small commercial vacuum cleaner company producing machine out of oil cans & suitcase handles. Then Henry came along & now Numatic is one of the best selling Domestic Vacuums in the UK.

To be honest, I don't think the smiling face has done anything but win the hearts of domestic buyers. When I was growing up our school had plenty of the old metal vacs that we now know as Henry with the face. Back then it was fixed handles at the top and often a bash or two as the years ran by. However quite a few primary schools often had Kirby uprights as well as a couple of Hoover Seniors.

My cousins from Ireland

all had HOOVER Juniors, or 'cylinders'. Now, they have "HENRY(s)". I was over there in 2010 for a funeral, and almost died myself.

It's so true Chris that people don't know who SEBO are or what a SEBO is! Still sort of surprises me in some respects. Though they are a small family owned business that keep their selves to themselves and just get on with what they do and don't make a big thing about it. But like you say have made a hugh impact on the market even though they are not well known.

So you know a few people that have heard of SEBO, thats great to hear Chris!

I remember before I found SEBO and purchased my Felix, my Aunty telling me about her getting new vacuum after owning several Hoover Juniors, Turbopower 1's and a Dyson DC01 she went to the local vac shop and asked for something that is commercial quality and built to last to cope with the pet hair off of 3 dogs! They recommended a SEBO X, which she still uses today, it must be about 10 years old now. Its a SEBO X4 Extra she says its the best vacuum she has ever owned and used! When she told me this story having owned the vacuum a few years already, I said 'SEBO' what is one of them. Thats what prompted me to find out what a SEBO Vacuum was....
