Its growing on me... from the features discussed, I think I might want one. Where and when can I get it. I think Riccar needs to update its website.

Yes, I too wish tacony would be better about updating their site. For the last three years it's said cleaning supplies coming soon. I like how simplicity shows in depth pics of the bottom of some of their machines where as the riccar site does not.

I've had the prima since December and I love how quiet the machine is.

it has a lot of power for the size. I just don't like how the accessories clip to the hose. they snag and its awkward.

I also broke the plastic clips on the hose that make the air seal. That issue has been addressed already so they haven't been having issues with that anymore.

I think the long hose is a big selling point, something which would make me more likely to use a canister, and the answer to Miele's sort hoses. I do like the rubber hoses on the Lux's though. Also, the tools and power head look solid, coupled with sealed HEPA and micro filter bags...this could be a good move filling the void where Miele lacks. However, I did recall seeing a VDTA demonstration on you tube showing a Miele canister with a retractable hose that extends the hose length considerably, but it looks like it might only be available for suction only models.

What's witht the type of hose?

The hose looks like it's made of the same material that's used in Miele's (and some other vacuums).

The hose has a lot of "spring" to it and no weight which makes it bump into things (plants on tables, TV, furniture) while you vacuum. Sometimes making more of a mess.

Yeah maybe it wont crack in time but it wont get out of it's own way while you work with it and it's very annoying.

It's almost like a shop vac with it's hard plastic hose (just not as wide in diameter).

Can't they add more rubber to it to give it weight so it hangs down and not stick straight out of it's connections?

If those hoses are like the ones on the current Tacony canisters, they're less springy than the Miele ones. Not sure how they compare to Sebo - while I've used a Sebo canister, I've never used one side-by-side with a Simplicity. They don't drape quite as nicely as the wire-wound hoses used on, say, Filter Queens or current Panasonic PN canisters, but they're not bad.

I can tell

Someone has no idea how to vacuum with a canister vacuum
The proper way is to wrap hose around your back side in a U
Hold one part with your left hand to pull machine behind you as your pushing
wand part with your right hand to do the vacuuming .
100% control nothing gets in any things way .

GeorgeCT,

I agree with you - I hate those type of hoses as well. I had a Miele Capricorn and the hose was one of the main reasons I got rid of it. It was always in the way.

Kirbyloverdan,

Wrapping it around your waist in a U shape is just not practical when vacuuming in tight quarters or using the above the floor tools and you have the hose in one hand while holding the knick knack being dusted. I much prefer the hoses that are used by Aerus, FQ, Rainbow, etc.

Gary

I know what you mean about Miele hoses but they are very short and stiffer than other hoses .
My suggestion wrapping the hose around the waist is for vacuuming the hose won't get in the way nor
will the canister get cought up on anything .

I haven't experienced problems with any Tacony vacuum
hose as I always use them to dust . I have lots of antiques and
stuff around I guess I'm just very paitent while I am cleaning and dusting .

The vacuum looks very nice. I am not a lover of telescoping wands or that style of hose end...to bulky. With that being said, it would still be a first choice vacuum for me.

Still a Kirby or Royal person...you can't beat them.

Wondering about the noise level for this machine...if it is close to the Model G Lux...It would move higher in the pecking order..LOL

About "non-kink" hoses

They really can't kink anymore because most manufactures have smartened up and made 360 degree swivel connections at either the wand end and or the canister end connections.

Or they actually are able to turn freely with in the connections at both ends.

So with that in mind it would be nice to see reinforced hoses come back to be the norm.

It's so much nicer to have the hose have a more "hanging" (down out of the way) property than a "spring loaded" (not so flexible) property.

The problem with wire bound hoses is the cleaning lady. They always step on them and those hoses STAY flat. A crushproof hose is lighter in weight, less expensive to replace, and doesn't continue to stay flat. You'll note the hose sheath (like Lux used starting with the Oly) to keep it from becoming flat due to gravity while being stored. Everything about this machine was designed from a durability standpoint, and to SURVIVE the cleaning lady. While collectors can wax nostalgic all day about what THEY would want, the machine must be something the average non-vacuum person would not only BUY but can't destroy. The ultimate goal is to have something the dealers can sell for a decent profit, the machine STAYS sold and the customer is happy with their purchase, and repairs can be accomplished easily and inexpensively when it does need one. Those goals have been met. It also cleans extremely well, and is QUIET. I dare say a Model G is slightly louder. Turned them both on today at the Museum, next to each other, and the G is just barely louder than the Wonder.
