I just bought a chrome/green Celebrity QS with power nozzle on Ebay. I probably paid more for it than I should have but I have wanted one of these for a long time and this one looks to be in excellent shape. It comes with bags and the instruction manual. The seller has a video on youtube demonstrating the machine.

This will betray my age, but I remember being in my early 20s and that machine was brand-new at the Hoover factory owned service center store. There was one model more expensive, and it had an extra long hose and a two speed power nozzle motor.

Gary,

I buy items I like, even if they are a bit over priced. It's only a true bargain if you like it.
The Hoover is in fine condition, showing the seller cared for it, and wanted it to go to an appreciative new owner. A great piece of History. Enjoy it, and don't let it collect too much dust, except inside it's bag.
I almost bought my mom that very Hoover, back in 1979, but opted for a Eureka instead, as that was the brand we had owned before. Yes, I got her the Brandywine model 1279 I still have.
My mom was an avid collector and reseller of Depression, Roseville glass, as well as Hall (Ronald Reagan tea pots), and Homer Laughlin china. Also Fostoria glass, Jeanette, American Brilliant crystal, old Imperial, etc.
I paid almost twenty dollars the other day for a Ralph Lauren glen plaid pattern crystal vase. That was 30% off at the resale store on senior discount day. I also paid 6 dollars for a 24% lead crystal bowl from the former Yugolslavia. It may be worth only ten dollars, but it has history, and the original sticker from the Zajecar glass factory which closed in 1990 when the Bosnian war broke out.

Thanks Mike. I am sure that I will enjoy this vac....can't wait for it to arrive. Now I need to see if I can find a motor filter which is missing as was pointed out by Greg. I am just hoping that Canada Post does not go on strike on Mon. as the seller has shipped the vac by postal service.

Gary, I'm excited for you.  I hope you don't have to drive to the border distribution center to pick it up.

I have a gold QS I'm selling, if you're interested.  It's a bit dusty and doesn't have the hose or power nozzle, but it turns on, sounds good, both speeds work, it looks clean on the inside, and the cord retracts.

Delaney,

please don't tempt me. I'm at my limit of vacs. If I get another, they will all be set out on the curb on trash day.
Hubby says it's the trains or the vacuums. Pick one. If I had Candy Spellings former attic, it wouldn't be an issue.

Very nice Celebrities.

I've had a few of them. They're not my favorite canisters but they sure are powerful and well made! Right now, I have a baby blue Celebrity II with powerhead. I used to have a Celebrity QS, an orange Celebrity II Elite and one of the unlabled, floating ones that was red. They are very cool machines.

The vacuum arrived today....a lot quicker than I ever expected especially since the postal strike is supposed to be on tomorrow. The vacuum is in great shape, runs well...a lot more quiet than I ever thought it would be. There was a slight smell when I opened it up to insert the bag so I vacuumed up some dryer scent beads (as suggested by Tom Gasko in another thread) which helped to eliminate the odour. The power nozzle grooms the carpet so much better than the one on my Guardian Platinum. Even though the carpeting is only 2 years old it feels so soft again when walking on it. I think the Hoover grooms it equally as good or maybe even a little better than my Kirby Ultimate G. The only negatives I have is that the button on the floor brush is broken off so the brush slips off the wand when I lift it off the floor and the bristles on the dusting brush are quite worn and stiff so if anyone has a spare dusting brush they are willing to part with, let me know.

Gary.

Good job on that vac

Im so jealous its bee n on my wishlist for a while maybe some day those are great machine . I had a celebrity IV power matic as a kid that thing was built like a tank.

Congrats Gary, that is one of Hoover's best canisters I believe. That power nozzle is hard to beat paired with any of the Hoover canisters, not too noisy, and very effective cleaning. After that nozzle was discontinued, I personally think the future nozzles were cheapened a bit, as were the other attachments. That's definitely a keeper!

Excellent Condition!!

Congrats on your new to you Hoover Celebrity QS series!! They are powerful, excellent grooming, durable and yours really does look just basically brand new!! It sounds great!!

I've attached a link for the filter. You may be able to find one cheaper with some looking?? I did a quick search and this is the first result that I saw.

If you have any questions, let us know. I especially love Hoover canisters!! I have 2 Celebrity's, both have the Celebrity style power nozzle. I have Quadraflex powermatic nozzles on two of my other Hoover canister machines.

Also this video below shows the 2 speed power nozzle edition. It was called the Celebrity Electronic. There was grayish colored version and blue colored version. The power nozzle is a Quadraflex powermatic but it's 2 speeds. The suction unit is also 2 speeds on this model.

Thanks Rob. I used the link you provided and ordered the filters. I searched the site for the replacement brush roller strips but no luck. Any idea where I might get those? I'm also looking for a dusting brush as the one that came with the vac is well worn and the bristles are very short and hard.

I didn't know that Hoover made a 2 speed power nozzle. What would be the benefit? If the objective was to use the low speed on a delicate carpet I would think it wouldn't matter how slow the brush was spinning, it would still damage the carpet?

Thanks,
Gary
