What is the best cleaning powerhead currently sold? I would like to use one on my Electrolux g for better cleaning performance. the suction only one does not seem to clean the rugs at my house very good.

I love Eureka’s Express power nozzle with the Vibra Groomer III brush roll. It also has a really cool sleek design....and gave the Express a top score in deep carpet cleaning in Consumer Reports tests in the mid 1980’s.

Sorry - you said “currently sold”....I’d go with any Kenmore/Cleva replacement power nozzle - very good deep cleaners and probably still available through Sears websites.

best power nozzles

I think the best power nozzles, in no particular order are the Sebo ET1 and ET2, the only difference is that the ET2 has a slightly larger cleaning area, the Lindhaus PB14 and the Wessel-Werk EBK360.
I don't think the Electrolux G had an electric hose, it uses a cord to connect the power nozzle so not sure if those could be connected or not. From the model 1205 forward, the connector on the electric hose is standard and these nozzles can be connected easily. There is also a battery powered nozzle you might consider, it's L shaped and works very much like the Electrolux nozzles, I will include a link if you want to get one.

Agree with nOoxy

And I just love my

Wessel-Werk EBK360.  I have two of them plus an EBK340

What ever you consider, something dependable will have a cogged belt vs. a flat belt.

As much as I love the old Hoover Quadraflex pns, they had a flat belt. I wonder if they could be converted?

Some pns have been sold under different name brands and in different colors. If you're shopping for power nozzles be aware of what the shape and characteristics are rather than the model no.

Cleaning wise?

I'd also have to say the Eureka VG3. Sold today as the rugmaster plus, or sweep and groom as stated above. It's a very basic nozzle, no height adjustment and a stretch belt but man I think it out cleans any of my other nozzles.

I third

The Wessell Werk EBK 360. I use it on my rainbow, compact/TriStar and patriot.
It really gets up animal hair.
Once you use it it will grow on you. Its the one I'd recommend.
The Wessell Werk 340 Im pretty sure is what my patriot has. It could be the really quirky patriot hose configuration. If it gets tangled you have to untangle put power nozzle in upright position power off the vacuum and press the reset switch and power on.
I think the riccar 1500p used a wessell werk. I could be wrong.
There is a you tuber than does vacuum wars. He has a rundown on power nozzles. I know vacuum devil also does reviews.
The perfect self powered power nozzle is the self powered nozzle. I think it's a 1 amp power nozzle.

I like the Aerus L shaped power nozzles, but I also haven’t used many other besides Kenmores which are pretty good, but not nearly as durable as they have problems with the neck breaking and are not constantly self height adjusting for optimal cleaning. I think you’d have a full Electrolux experience using the L shaped nozzle with the G and you can get the wands and sheath to go with it properly still as they are what is currently sold on the Lux Classic model.

If you get a used one consider replacing the roller brush so you have fresh bristles and you’ll have something pretty close to new. Depending on what kind of carpet and rugs you have you may prefer something designed with flexible bristles for better carpet care. Some of these with hard stiff plastic bristles can actually wear out your carpet and rugs by ripping off too much of the fibers and then sucking them up. The rugs may may end up clean, but will look and be worn out sooner than later so this is something of consideration as well.

The L shaped nozzle also allows easier maneuvering around furniture legs and such. They also have good airflow channels in the front and sides to allow for front and edge cleaning pickup and also so they don’t stick to low pile carpets allowing proper airflow, Also the suction path is in the center for even suction at both sides, some have the channel off to one side and then there is less suction on the opposing side. And some have the belt not at the end but offset from the end and a small section of brush roller beyond the belt but no suction can get to that area so I think this design is poor as it provides virtually no suction beyond the belt aside from a small channel on the bottom which isn’t enough for effective cleaning. Finally, a geared clogged belt is best than a flat belt that stretches. Avoids slipping and stalling on thick carpets which causes the belts to get burned and stretched out then needing replacement.

The Aerus L shaped nozzle avoids most of these issues in its design and this is why I prefer them over most others.

Suction only tip

Not sure if you are using an Electrolux suction only nozzle, but if you are and it’s an older version it will have the “gleaner” switch on one end, flip it to on, that should help it to pick up pet hair better. When the 1205 was introduced the gleaner bar was changed to a more mild and permanent design and it can be rotated to a fresh side by unscrewing the end screws, lifting off the ends, pulling out the gleaner rod, and cleaning it and then putting it back in with an unused side facing out. If someone went over concrete with the carpet side of the nozzle and wore that down that could be effecting it’s performance. If you are using an older metal Electrolux carpet nozzle such as the ones standard with the XXX or LX, there should be a flip lever on one end that you can flip to turn on and off the gleaner bar on the opposite side of the nozzle. Earlier all metal nozzles didn’t have this but instead you just flipped the nozzle over to use the side with better gleaning action for thread, pet hair, etc.

The latest Aerus versions for some reason have changed the “gleaner” feature to nothing but a smooth rod, which is in effect the same as the first version in the off position. Not sure why they have done this except for the fact that they figure most people will be using a power nozzle for difficult cleaning and the rug side of the flip straight suction tool for their most delicate needs and figured it’s not needed or desired, though the nozzle suction channel still has “gleaner bar and an arrow pointing to the rod still imprinted on it.

This may help for better results until you get a power nozzle.
