Well apart from the wrong bag, This is one of the best convertibles I have ever found. I visited a colleague who owns a vacuum repair shop and this was standing their so I bought it. Going to need some work but will look good soon

Gareth

Its interesting to see that this one is earthed (grounded) as the ones we had here were double insulated and required no ground. Indeed even up to the end of the pink 1334 and 652 models ours were being sold with a moulded on two pin plug

interesting

wonder why they decided to earth it would like to see inside and work out why i cant see it being any different to the UK model

Earthing

It could well be down to the standards required by the country to whom it was exported. That is to say that a double-insulated version made for the UK would have conformed to British Standards, but other countries may have required more, maybe because of the amount of exposed metal work on this model.

Actually these were all made in SA There was a huge Hoover factory and most Hoover models sold in SA were made here.

All metal appliances had to be earthed in SA, still do

652A

Hello Gareth,

Memories,memories!!

I have a near minter in this model as well as its junior 1334A; always loved the colour scheme, even as a child when they were actually new in the shops.

Over here if a young couple could afford one when they married they were regarded as 'posh'!!!

Good luck with the restoration.

Walter.

I have..

The model 652C it has a blue hood with the white trim and the same colour bag as yours. But its dismantled and in parts, the metal suction fan was broken, and I've removed it, that's how far I came with its restoration.
