Actually, on second thoughts, I don't think the hose on my U800 is original.

Although it looks similar to the original (as seen on Chris's U800), the bottom section of the hose which connects into the floor head has a kink in it when put in the upright position - Something a hose wouldn't do if it were designed for that specific cleaner.
 
No, you're wrong, that was exactly how it was designed. It was a lousy idea I thought and I remember seeing them standing on the shelves in shops, with a kink in the crushproof hose. I always thought it looked cheap. These cleaners, as I think I have said before, were amongst the poorest quality avaliable at the time. They were not made by Philips, they were sold with the Philips name, along with Delonghi and other brands. The quality was not at all consistent with Philips products.
