Hi guys.

I am very happy that an old friend came back to me the other day.

I let a collector of vintage items have it 2 years ago when he came to pick up an old radio I had. Boy did I regret this later on that day.

I was in process of moving and thought that it might be better off with someone else.

I got this off eBay 4 years ago I guess and I really liked the look of it despite it being a reconditioned cleaner. I am guessing around 62 when 1334
A came out since gray and white scheme seem to indicate.

These were often re sold in dept stores as they have come up for sale in many colour variations.

I tried to recreate this one to help ease my regret which was why I wanted the white ribbed 3 core cord in previous thread.

I have a few pics of it to show here.

I have not really cared for a vac as much as this one. Why? I will probably never know. I guess a collector has one example they cherish above all others. I don't collect anymore as I don't have the room to do this anymore.

But anyway he has returned after a vacation away. HOME TO STAY!!🙂

Since this is a happy occasion for me I am going to call him Melvin.

Treated to a clean up and nos sweeping brushes. Belt is great but do have spares anyway as well as carbon and sweeping brushes. I also converted him to take paper bags.

I was glad I got in touch with the guy and traded him a load of small appliances I had to be able to get this back

Hope you like the pics..

Originally had a red painted round logo to replace the common vertical hoover word.

Wearing off over time so glued a round badge on over old one.

These were on all juniors like U1012,1346,1346a etc.

To me it looks neat and tidy. A small pop of red.

Or black.

If handle grip was black I would have said yes but like the gray grip as it is not very common these days.

As as before Melvin has his own identity and I guess he should stay as he is.

Hope everyone likes the photos of my best household friend🙂🙂.

Sweet! I wish we got those over here, as far as I know we didn't get a Junior until right before WWII in the form of a dark brown 115.

It came with the gray bag when I first got it so have always known it with that one.

I guess it is the way it should stay. This is a reconditioned example that would have been for sale in dept stores and small electric retailers in the 60s and 70s. This was a testament to how well made these were.

This was most likely traded in when the hoover salesman dropped by to show her the latest model. Probably nothing wrong with this but you know how salesmen can talk you into anything.

Memories

I can clearly remember 375s on display for sale, can't remember prices, in all the vac recon shops as an 7/8/9 year old (1967-70) when we lived in Glasgow.

From what I can recall most were fitted with grey pattern bags, some had their original wire, some grey replacement but I don't remember the grey genuine hoover handle grips..... possibly because the genuine hoover replacement grey handle grips, ribbed wire, furniture guards were used at perivale for the factory rebuilds. One thing is true; the quality of the pattern cloth only bags far surpassed that of the genuine bag quality in terms of dust retention!!
