I've seen some Riccars at vacuum stores painted to look like an American flag. Would it be possible for the average consumer to get one, or are these just display models for vac shops. Also, does anyone have any good pictures of these machines?

Tacony has done, and continues to paint, many different version of the red/white/blue models. Normally, they are used as promotions (order 26 machines, get one 'special painted' machine free. The 8 pound models have "flag" hoods that are easier for me to obtain than the clean air/tandem air models (those have two painted parts, the bag door and the nozzle housing). I'll post pics of all the different versions when I return to work on Tuesday. Tacony owns their own painting department, and can virtually make any color they wish. The Pink 8 pound models for Breast Cancer Month were painted last month and were a huge hit. I have a special turquoise 8 pound Freedom that matches the Electrolux Model G exactly, they painted it especially to look like a '60's model.

Riccar Radiance (tandem air model) greets visitors to the Tacony Factory as well as the Museum/Factory Outlet Store.

Those are very cool. If a vacuum store was selling tons of Tacony vacuums, would the manufacturer be able to make custom labeled vacuums with the stores name? (ex. Stark Royals)

Al's in Minneapolis special orders Brilliances... You have to order 400 a specific quantity a year to be able to order special made machines...

The Radiance Premium started as a high end dealer only item that had to be special ordered...

The Sand Trap RSL5 started as a dealer special order too.

If a dealer will order 2 pallets of machines at a time, they can be customized in the painting department with the name of the dealer (ex. Handy Andy private labels Riccar 8955 models - Starks private labels Tandem Air models). The painting department will also do special versions for Merry Maids as well as unique colors (like pink) for special occasions. I have a Simplicity Synergy with a completely clear motor cover, nozzle housing, and bag door. Kind of like the See-Thru Sebo X4 they did once.
