Gents, I'd like to tap the knowledge base on shop vacuums. I am still using a "ShopVac" model despite its failed switch and other defects only because it has much better suction than the new Rigid I bought. The old Doyle Vac-it I restored gets little use due to its small hose inlet and the fact that everything sucked up bounces off the huge aluminum impeller on the way in. Does anyone have an opinion on the which is the most powerful consumer-grade shop vac using 2½" hoses?

I like older vacs and like a lot of older equipment they're better built, but it's a crap shoot on finding something suitable which is the only reason I ask about new!

Bulk dry pick up, nss m1. It has a scrap trap for heavier soils and lightweight soils go into the bag. But a new switch for your current shop vac is an easy fix.
