I am friendly with an Aerus dealer in Tennessee. He visited the Aerus factory in Bristol recently. He tells me that the G-Ps arrive in a crate from Slovenia where they are made and placed in an Aerus labeled box with the Aerus sourced hose, wands, power nozzle and attachments. If you look at the European Intelligence they have a different hose with a Bluetooth controller on the handle, telescopic steel wand and a unique to Lux power nozzle. The Aerus version doesn't have the Bluetooth feature and uses a simpler ( well, relatively speaking ) main board shared with an early version called the AC11 Intelligence Classic that was sold in suction only form but retained a power connection for an electric hose a buyer could add later if they wanted a power nozzle.
I'm well aware of the Gaurdian Platinum and how they're made courtesy to dysonman1. Apparently he was the one who made the Guardian Platinum model possible and I thank him for doing so because it's one of my favorite Lux models ever.
I had likewise read all kinds of heresay about what Aerus does or doesn't make and whether or not Bristol was making vacuums at all. I tend to believe what this Aerus dealer tells me but who knows? Did he imagine a trip to Bristol? They were definitely making Tristar vacuums in Bristol through September 2022 using metal parts last cast in 2019. The Aerus Heavy Duty upright is made in China in the same plant making it's Pro Team and Perfect twins.
Interesting cause on the Aerus website it still shows guardian platinum canister available. And just a few months ago the lux international site also had their version listed but now it’s gone. So wonder how long it will be before it’s also removed from the Aerus website like the guardian upright was.
To be honest I think all three brands are grossly over priced for what you get. I have canister vacuums from all three companies. In terms of build quality and durability I rate Sebo and the two older Aerus models, the Classic and Legacy, equal. They all have little 40,00 rpm + screamer motors now so I don't see a big difference in that regard. Those little Bosch motors in modern Sebo canisters are not all that durable, unlike the higher quality motors Sebo puts in their uprights or the full sized Domel motor that comes in a C3.1. Those are durable and can be rebuilt. The Bosch motor you just throw away when it burns up.
As the article stated, the Bristol plant was closed in 2003. ActivePure Technologies LLC (formerly Aerus Holdings LLC) did reopen it at one point to handle its other products, but it's likely used only for light manufacturing if any such as attachments, hoses, and parts for purification and heating systems. Otherwise, the company would showcase its manufacturing on its website and in its literature.
I would not be too concerned about what the people who answer the phones at Aerus say. They are not well informed. I called them some years ago to ask a question about their Japanese market Tristars, which were at the time widely sold in Japan by Fuji Medical Instruments with Airstream branding. The person at Aerus said they didn't sell Tristars in Japan. I have a half dozen including three that are NIB with Japanese instructions and Japanese labels on the machines clearly marked for 100 volts. The people answering the phone there don't know much.
Aerus is not going out of business. Nor are they downsizing. The sales of the platinum are doing very well. I'm not sure where you got that information. This is from a very reputable friend and large Aerus dealer here in Florida. I would do your fact checking first
Lux International changed the color of the Intelligence from black to off-white trim to celebrate their 100th anniversary. It was called a "Jubilee" edition. Aerus had no choice but to adopt that color scheme as Kolektor stopped making the black parts. The new model was called the S115 Intelligence. There was a change to the hose as well. Where the former AP-11 Intelligence Premium with black trim powered the hose handle Bluetooth controller with 220-240 AC ( big transformer inside the housing ) the new hose sold with the S115 uses a simple Ni-Cad battery like you have in your car's key fob. There is still 220-240 AC in the hose handle but it is switched by battery power through a relay to operate the power nozzle. Aerus version has none of this trickery.
Okay. It appears that we're all hearing different things from to many sources. That includes the actual Aerus dealers and non Aerus owners or owners of their own franchise. I think we should all just sit back be patient until what ever we're hearing comes to be.
They are making a pile of money making big commercial and industrial air purification equipment. That's their bread an butter now and from what I hear from dealers Aerus can't build the equipment fast enough. No grand conspiracy. Just a changing market that has lost interest in bagged canister vacuums. For better or worse what sells to day are bagless stick vacs and robot vacs. That is what people want. You can't blame that on Joe Urso. The old saying that "the customer is always right" rings true. I guess Aerus could develop a line of bagless stick vacs, after all that is what people want to buy, but the critics here would cry foul over that too. Even the local Sebo dealer who has been in businesses for many decades, and before him his father, has thrown in the towel and is selling some bagless vacuums from Simplicity including their stick vac. He needs to move product to keep the doors open. You can only have people walking out the door empty handed ( never to return ) for lack of a bagless stick vac to sell them for so long.
It will be interesting to see how close close to what really is happening with Aerus the Platinum as the CEO as you claim. My good freind who owns a fairly large franchise here in the Clearwater, FL is actually at the annual convention in Europe. He's there with the CEO and most of the Franchise owners. I'll certainly post the result once he get back and I've have a chance to speak with him.
