I was wondering if I could put some essential oils on a cotton round and stick it in the bag of my Kirby vacuums to help add fragrance while I vacuum.

Or, the outside

You can also put some on the outside of the disposable bag around where the fill tibe blows into the bag. Same effect. I will also use the cotton ball/toilet paper square method, though I use a heavy dose of fragrance.

Granuals

If you get fabric softener that is a granual type. Downy unstoppables or Gain unstoppables. Throw in vacuum bag. You could use a dryer sheet.
I wouldn't do oil as oils in fabric you will get a stain you won't get out.

It works well. I love cinnamon it's probably my favorite scent ever. Where do you get cinnamon sticks. Im sure you can get toothpicks and put cinnamon in with tooth pics and there is a cinnamon sticks but I would love to try cinnamon sticks.
Just off topic a little. I have a river in my backyard and mosquitos are everywhere. If you run a dryer sheet on your skin the mosquitos loose your scent.

Thanks

I will try that.
I only mentioned it as it pertained to story. Iid say more about my backyard. It has poop from a lab. That's a better selling point.

I second the above

Since discovering the unstoppables I use them quite frequently.

The dryer sheet does work as well, however, the exhaust from the Kirby is not heated, as a bypass, direct air machine; the cooling air is exhausted towards the floor.

My Grams cleaning lady

used to spray a cotton puff with a shot of Grams favorite perfume, Estee Lauder Youth Dew and drop it into the bag of the Tristar. Wasn't really necessary as there were no pets, just something they did for the 35 years she cleaned for her.

Off topic a bit.

In our old apartment, my dad used to put lots of cinnamon sticks in the water in the humidifier pans on top of the radiators. In winter the whole place smelled like cinnamon.

What I usually do if I want my vacuum to have a nice smell, I just put some home fragrance oil directly on the HEPA Cloth vacuum bag. Just a few drops. Or, I use Bounce fabric softener pellets. I have also thrown 2 or 3 orange peels in the bag at times, gives a nice orange citrus smell.

Alex, good tip on the Kirby HEPA Cloth charcoal bags. For Miele canister owners, there is a generic FJM HEPA Cloth charcoal bag available now. I guess the Chinese decided there was enough of a market for these after the genuine Miele 4D Smell Protect bags were taken off the market.

Odors Away

I really like the scent of this product, "Odors Away." I'm told it smells a lot like the old Kirby "Sweet Aire" product, but I never smelled that, so I can't compare. I love the spicy, cinnamon smell of this product. And, it really does a great job of getting rid of that "old sweeper bag funk" smell. I put a few drops on the bag itself and it lasts for several weeks.

I second David's opinion...

I have been using "Odors Away" for years now. This stiff works wonders.

Just put a few drops on your newly installed cloth HEPA bag and that wonderful fragrance fills the room as you vacuum.

Question about odors away

So this neutralizes odors and doesn't cover them up? When you put a few drops on the outside of the bag, how long before you need to do it again? I read about it on amazon and it gets mostly good reviews, but for different things people use it for it says it only lasts like a day or two before you have to use more. If you use it strictly for a vacuum I'm thinking a bottle would last quite a while. What does it smell like? One review said they couldn't stand the smell and that it smelled like the chemicals they use to clean up when someone throws up.
