"A striking antique 1950's Electrolux Sleigh Vacuum. The vacuum is still in excellent working condition. A necessity for any antique collection. Best of all it is priced lowwer than the appraisal on the vacuum. Do not let this rare opportunity pass you by!"

Let's see, where do we start...

-------

"A striking antique 1950s vacuum"

Well, as we all know, this is not from 1950, nor is it an antique. And if it starts striking you then there definitely is something wrong with it!!

-------

"The vacuum is still in excellent working condition."

Never mind that it looks like hell, is dented and banged up, and is missing all the original attachments.

-------

"A necessity for any antique collection."

According to...whom?!

-------

"Best of all it is priced lowwer than the appraisal on the vacuum."

And who, we might ask, appraised this prized antique collectible? If their appraisal was for more than the opening bid, then I'd have to say the appraiser is probably under the influence of some sort of controlled substance!

-------

"Do not let this rare opportunity pass you by!"

Well, that depends on your perspective I guess. For this collector, it's a "must-miss."

Some eBay sellers just slay me! Especially the ones who have watched one too many episodes of "Antique Road Show" and pepper their descriptions with all sorts of "Official Antique Profession" buzz words....... I *especially* hate those who use the word "piece" ... "It's a rare and lovely piece!" ... Although, on the other hand, what they're frequently selling IS a piece ... OF ... [CENSORED] !!!

I was thinking about e mailing his guy aboutthis but lets see if it sells. we all know that he wasted his money postingit up for that price

I think they call if puffery in ad-speak. The dents are a testament to its age doncha know. LOL

Striking??

It looks more like it has been struck a few times! Apparently the seller doesn't realize that there are several of them on ebay right now that are more complete, in better shape, and priced MUCH cheaper than what he wants.

Turn on the sarcasm detectors

"This lovely Eames Era Deco inspired piece will grace any modern home with its tasteful slammertone grey finish and authentic accordian hose in a contrasting shade of bisque. Why wait to jump on this opportunity? Bid now, or regret it later!" Can't wait to see where this goes.

I just had to part out a very sickly model 30 last night which killed me to do but it was in good cause because some of the parts are going into an older 1939 vintage model 30 with the bakelite motor and older basket style filter. The sick 30 was just too rusted out and banged up to save. Thank goodness I have so many other far nicer model 30's to ease the pain.
