Today I had to go to a medical clinic for a blood test. (I chuckled when I noted that the brand name of the collection tubes is "Vacuette!")

On the way home I passed a thrift shop that I hadn't gone to for quite a few years. However, today I got a HUGE "Vacuum Cleaner Twingle" so just for laughs I decided to stop.

I wended my way around to the back of the large shop to when ... what to wondering eyes should appear ... one of those big cast-iron Hoover commercial machines! It was in really good condition, all original, just needing a light spa treatment.

Well.......right now I need another vacuum cleaner like I need another hole in the head. Especially one as big and heavy as this one. But it was so nice, and the price was right, so I yielded to temptation.

When I got it home, I set-to cleaning it up. Really, it didn't need much. I had noticed a little plastic bag tied to the cord that I didn't pay much attention to. I almost fell over in a dead faint when I opened the bag and saw what was inside: A BRAND-NEW NEVER USED CLOTH BAG FOR THE EARLIER COMMERCIAL MACHINES!!!

I have a Model 918 that I took down to the church a while back. It has an original bag thanks to Hans Craig but it has some holes at the hottom where it attaches to the bag collar. So I'm going to install this beautiful new bag onto it!

There was also a fairly nice Electrolux Olympia there but I wasn't tempted. I've never been crazy about the color scheme. (When I contemplated the thought that the Olympia is 45 years old, I felt very old!)

The moral of the story: Always pay attention to the Vacuum Cleaner Twingle!

Here's a link to a short video and some photos.

Super lucky find!!!!Haven't seen one of these Hoover all metal vacuums in years. They used to be so common-now I don't see them anymore.A vacuum as good as a Kirby to me.Did the bag that came with it-was it a dump bag or could it use disposable insert-liner bags?Guess I will have to look in thrift shops out here-mostly what I have seen are those HORRIBLE dusty, dirty bagless Bissel,Hoover vacuums. They should be in the DUMPSTER than the thrift store.
