A couple of Filter Queen questions

I have an older Filter Queen I use in the garage. It is a red/gray Majestic and works great. First question, do you need to use the 2 filters? Can you use just the paper filter and not use the carbon filter on the inside. I have so many extra genuine FQ paper filters.

This may belong in the supermarket section. Is it possible to purchase a hose that one end fits on the FQ vacuum and the other end would connect direct to a Wessel Werk wand and mini power nozzle like the model HEB160 or MEB16QD? I want to use this combination in the garage to clean car upholstery and don’t want to use a rigged up hose. If this is possible and someone on this forum has the hose and nozzle in stock, please email me direct @ [email protected] Here is a link that makes me think this is possible, but I don’t have the knowledge to make something like this work

I can answer the first question

As you are using genuine Filters, there is no need to use the carbon filter as very little dust gets past that primary filter. If you need to control odors, I like to suck up laundry beads with each vacuuming.

I used to sell Filter Queen.

The black carbon layered Medipur cone is good for 6 months. It is meant for not only boosting filtration but also blocking odors.

The white cellulose cone is good up until basin is full-- 2.5 gallon capacity. If your basin is not full, but you noticed reduced power you can remove the motor unit, and just lightly flick the cone with your finger at different sections. This will knock some dust off of the other side. Once you feel need to completely dump canister then dispose of cone, clean and dry the gasket and insert a new cellulose cone.

Just be careful in disturbing the white cellulose cone because if any dust gets on the inside then it will go to your premotor filter disc and clog that off. This filter is easily cleanable but you'll have more significant power loss when that filter is dirty.

The black Medipur cone is not required but it is heavily recommended. Just remember that is good for 6 months. It goes inside of the white cones. A new Medipur cone is available with a new genuine 6 pack supply of cones from FilterQueen.


As far as your second question, nothing like that is available from Filter Queen. Filter Queen has always had an exclusive tool to wand system for their products whether an older model like yours or the newer style wand section which came out in 2003. For what you are trying to do, you would have to rig a system yourself to either find some sort of adapter to put on hose end or create a hose by switching canister connection end or hose handle end. There are vacuum collectors out there that have done transformations to their Filter Queen hoses for such purposes. I am not one of them and don't have any further advice on how it would be done.

Follow-up - FQ adapter does exist

I ended up purchasing the FQ adapter, Wessel Werk hose and HEB 160 mini nozzle from Quality Home Systems online. So far it works great. The adapter is a tight friction fit to the hose with the other end to the vacuum. I could add a WW wand & nozzle later.

I bought this FQ used years ago. It burnt up a few hoses and power nozzles. I always bought used hoses/nozzles. Hopefully this hose will last. I do notice lots of FQ 'canister only' vacuums for sale. I'm wondering if their hoses were prone to electrical problems.

I even have a question on here to some experts. What are the differences between the 95 and 99A models? I asked because they both look about the same and I was curious if there's really a difference. Including the 112A and 112B models since those two also look the same as well.

Rob, do you know if they still make the thick black charcoal filter? When we bought ours new in 1997 our black 6 month filter was a LOT thicker and more porous than the charcoal paper ones today. This thing you could not tear in half and it came with a little blue tag (like a tag found in a pair of jeans with the size printed on)

I loved it but we only were able to replace it once then could not seem to find them but found the paperish ones of today.

Also another filter that came with it was a pure white cloth cone ONLY to be used when purifying the air. I can't find that one either. My Dad burned up our 99a with using all day everyday as an air purifier. I had a new motor put in it and still use it.

They have two charcoal filters.  One is the thinner, Odor reducing filter is the Enviro-pure, the other is the thicker Medi-pure filter.
