42-year-old vacuum goes to museum

Just seen this story on the BBC website - the cleaner is a Siemens canister, although I doubt from the photo that it does have its original floor nozzle!

I guess it must be a quite rare machine for Bosch-Siemens to be willing to swap it for a new cleaner - A couple of years back Russell Hobbs offered to exchange my K1 kettle for stuff from their then-new ranges of appliances, but I had to graciously decline

Hhmmm, there was one on ebay a few weeks ago, bit of a battered wreck though, saying that so did Jacks Hoover and look what that turned out like......I`m sure those tools & hose arnt 42yrs old, look much newer, unless the old ones are still in the box..

AND, Simon, pics of the K1 please?? preferably using the kettle, with your conquest in the other hand and a Ronson Escourt on your head!!!

Simon that is a very interesting story. Wouldn't it be fun to have something like that here where we could try and find the oldest still being used Electrolux, Kirby, or Hoover??

Been there done that.....

I had a hand held Miele that was from the early 60s , before they were established over here.

This now resides in the Miele expierence Centre at their UK head office- The company I work for was credited and it paid for my Sebo Felix(later traded for a Miele !!!)

That is certainly a very up to date looking machine for 1965. I'll check out their site and see what the current models look like. European Styling!!

Several years ago NSS had a contest as to who had the oldest model M still in use-A movie theater somewhere in Florida answered their call-the machine was 50+ years old and still in use-NSS commented on all of the candies and candy wrappers,popcorn that was in the bag!they provided the theater with a new machine and put the old one in their museam-NSS even gets it out and demos it to visiters.NSS vacs are still built to last 50+ years!And their price isn't much higher!Since I have model M's-the one I am looking for now is a "Bronco" model-an ext filter wet-dry vacuum.Impressive machines with polished SS tanks and polished motor housings-and the famous blue "Horse" logo bag!
