He is right, you have to own an Optima to know, they are full fledged uprights, just more compact. That's why I said they are amazing for RV's and campers. They fit right in the tiny camper closets or in a corner. Eureka really missed the mark on this vacuum. If they would have pushed the marketing more to RV'ers they would have flew off the shelves like nobody's business.
It has a 12 amp motor! It is by no means at all a quick pickup vac or a dustbuster. They have a lot of power to them. I never had any trouble pulling beach sand out of my travel trailer carpeting. I even used it outdoors on the patio rug where it picked up bits of gravel, leaves, dirt, etc.
One thing you have to make sure of is you keep the filter clean. If the vacuum suffocates, the cord will start getting really hot.
I never changed the filter on mine and it still works fine but once I give it a complete teardown, wash, and rebuild, it will have new parts if I can still get them. In 2016 the handle was available online, but it seems like now it isn't.
