Here is my Hoover Junior Dirtsearcher that I got off eBay last week for just £9.99. I have wanted a nice 1970's bottom fill Hoover junior for some time now and when I noticed this Dirtsearcher on eBay that was less than an hours drive from my house I couldn't pass it up, I did ask the seller if I could offer her £15 for it before the auction ended but she said no, I would like to let the auction run, obviously she lost out on a fiver! Haha. When I went to pick it up the lady said it was left with the house when they bought it and we were going to chuck it away but the builders were using it to suck up the plaster dust and rubble... I was like :0 :@!!!

It was in...Ok condition when I bought it but it did need a clean, the handle release actually works on this Junior, which is strange as it is a metal on metal handle release and wouldn't take long to ware out, as time has proved...But as this has come from an 80 year old lady (who previously owned the house) I doubt it was used that much.

Here are the before shots.

After a full strip down, clean, reassemble, bag wash, belt, bulb, bag, T-cut and polish, here is the end result.
The machine needs a new commutator as when I fitted new carbon brushes the arcing will not stop no matter how many times I clean the commutator with fine emery paper, so never mind... My friend Jake has got a "new" motor for me so I might just use a whole "new" and swap them over, regardless of that issue, it has come up real nice!
