    Rainbow vs Sebo/Miele

Re: Miele I have two Miele canisters, a Flamenco II and a Solaris Electro Plus. Both are 20 or so years old and running just fine. I particularly love how quiet they are relative to other vacs, especially the Solaris. I have hardwood floors, a dog and three cats. Neither machine has a "vacuum...

Karcher CV300 If you're considering a Dart/Felix, consider the Karcher CV300. It's literally a Dart private labeled for commercial use as a Karcher. Available for less than $400. https://www.amazon.com/K%C3%A4rcher-Commercial-Upright-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B006ATB202?th=1

Cord Recall Edgar, I have a Genesis LXe with the safety recall cord. May I ask why you regret having the recall work done?

    Reconditioned Kirby?

Consider Thrift Shops Mark, I don't know about Lexington, but here in Florida, Kirbys of all sorts are dirt cheap (pun intended) in the thrifts. On a recent Saturday, I counted 7 different ones in half a dozen thrifts. They tend to go cheap. I've seen Sentrias in good shape as low as $50...

    Kirby Tried to Escape!

I had a Generation 3 make a break for it yesterday. I backed the car out of the garage to run some errands and forgot to close the door. The Kirby obviously sensed an opportunity (helped by a sloping garage floor) and rolled toward freedom. I came home to find it on its side in the driveway...

    Tornado Carpetkeeper Upright Vacuum

The first picture ... is a VERY early model, likely from the '70s or early '80s. The health care facility I worked in in the '80s had one very similar to it -- maybe even an earlier model. It weighed (no exaggeration, proven on a scale) 49 pounds.

    Forgotten Commercial Products

Re Clarke (Windsor) This is an incorrect characterization. Clarke and Windsor are separate companies and always have been. Clarke originally was an independent American company, later part of several U.S. conglomerates, and is now owned, along with its former American competitor Advance, by...

    Windsor Versamatic VSE 1-3

I was a housekeeping manager at a health care facility that used these machines in the 1980s. This version was introduced in 1986 or '87. Earlier models didn't have the light panel on the base, and were supported only by a center tube -- much like today's Sebo Felix without the swivel feature.

Commercial backpack vacuum for household use

Nilfisk is the parent company of both Clarke and Advance. Buy whichever one has the lower price and you'll get the same machine.

Wap Turbo West German Made Shop Vac?

More likely It’s more likely that WAP made them for Stihl. The brand was well known in the ‘90s for producing commercial vacs, often found in the U.S. at car washes. In the mid-90s it became part of the ALTO Group, a conglomerate of 10 cleaning equipment manufacturers. The Danish industrial...

One of those was literally my first vacuum! I got one for Christmas when I was 4 or 5 years old.

    Older vacuum?

That is a very old commercial vac made by NSS, a longtime producer of commercial cleaning equipment. They’re best known for the legendary M1 “Pig” heavy duty canister vac. Judging just by the look, I'm guessing it’s probably from the ‘50s or early ‘60s. https://www.nss.com/

    Bison Handle

Handle removal See the round button on the front, just below the Bison emblem? Push it down. It's spring-loaded. Then just lift the handle off. Be careful putting it back on. If not latched properly, it will pop loose, potentially dropping the vacuum on your foot.

    Windsor Versamatic

Worth Noting Like the original Sebo 350 and 360, the Versamatic machines have always been a two-motor design. The later Sensor line, like Sebo's household "Automatic X" models are single-motor.

    Windsor Versamatic

Second Generation That Versamatic is actually the second generation design. The original had a single (non-swivel) neck between the main unit and the powerhead. Like the Felix. This version added hinges on both sides, making the machine much more stable, and sturdier as well. We had both...

    Tornado Magic One

U.S. Tornado brand The Tornado brand in the United States has no connection to the Italian company of the same name. It was a brand introduced by the Breuer Electric Company in 1938. Breuer Electric specialized in commercial equipment, and the Tornado brand remains a leader today in that...
