    Eureka "The Boss" 1934b upright

Yes,they are very good at carpet cleaning, being a direct air with beater BAR and brush. The brush can be changed out to a double row brush for even better cleaning on glue down carpets which don't need a beater bar.

    Eureka "The Boss" 1934b upright

That is a GREAT vacuum for the money, light and quiet too! Cleans well. Sanitaires have all that but are not as light and cost a little more. Wish the cord was longer than 20 ft., you cought install a longer cord easily!

    Purple Hoovers

Using bleach in a carpet cleaner

Ouch! Bleach does not ACTUALLY clean. It is a strong oxidizer, bleaching away stains til they disappear. It will ruin the seals in your carpet cleaning machine and should be used with great caution. I don't recommend it at all for carpet cleaning.

Battle of the Eureka Brush Rolls: Disturbulator, VG-I, VG-II, VG-III

Beats! Shakes! Sweeps! Combs! Suction Cleans! The original Disturbulator with 3 rows of brushes was unbeatable in cleaning with the one and only exception being the early 50s Apex upright slightly outcleaning it. In the 6os, the Disturbulator became a traditional beater bar brush with plastic...

    Pardon the double post!

    Air Way 66

It's carbon dust. These were known to do that. Too bad, because the genuine 14 layer paper bag filtered quite well, but the carbon dust from the motor still "left its mark."

    Kirby D-80 Fan..

Totally SHAGadelic, baby! Ben is right. The Classic was introduced to the dealers in late 1969, then launched,as I said, in 1970. My info is correct. It could be the Shag King was just introduced in late 1972,and fits the late Classics, but it WAS nationally launced on the Omega in 1973.

    Kirby D-80 Fan..

Great info here, but a few clarifications. The Classic was introduced in late 1969,and fully launched in early 1970. The Classic Omega with the Shag King debuted in 1973. The 6 amp. rating for the two was on high speed with the hose, they were 4.5 amps on the carpet. The Dual 80 was 4 amp...
