Eureka "The Boss" 1934b upright

I did not know they even still made these machines!
Does anyone have any experience with this older style Eureka upright? They seem to get good reviews and it had a large bag,beater bars and rug height adjustment. Also noticed how light weight(11 pounds) this Eureka was in comparsion to many other plastic uprights. The replacment bags seem to be easy to find and are cheap to buy.

I was wondering if this along with the Eureka Mighty Mite would be a good "low cost" combination for an older person. They are hard to find as our vac shops don't sell Eureka and Hoover any longer and the big box stores don't seem to carry them in favor of the newer bag less machines with the attached tools.
You can buy both on the Eureka web site with no shipping cost. The upright is $119.99 and the canister is $89.99.
I would much prefer using the 2 machines than trying to use any upright with that attached tools and stretch hose.
The only drawback I can see is it has a short power cord and it is not hepa filtration but the bags are cheap to replace and you would not have to have that messy job of dumping a bin and replacing hepa filters.
I was thinking of this set up for an older person because they are both simple and straight forward machines at low cost.
Has anyone had any experience with these Eureka's?

I have!

I own both the 1934B and 1934A,It's metel predacesser.
In my opinion,I think it will be a great combonation for a Senior.
The 1934B is simple,Light-wieght,And can hold a massive amount of soil before needing to be emptied.
The mighty-mite is strong,Yet maneverable and easy to use.

Thanks for your comments. A video would be great of the new Eureka 1934b.
I am not trying to compare this to my high end vacs but it does seem like it might be a simple,easy to use machine for an older person who does not have allergy issues.
So many of the new plastic uprights almost hurt my eyes to look at them and seem so over designed for a machine that performs a simple function.
It looks like this Eureka has a simple bottom plate so belt replacement would not be a big issue.

I cannot believe some one still makes an upright that has:

(1) beater bar
(2) metal bottom plate that removes easy for belt replacement
(no screws into plastic to remove)
(3) REAL 3 position handle
(4) huge throw away bag
(5) soft outer bag so it does not damage furniture
(6) Dail A Nap control for the different carpet heights
(7) huge easy to use step on power switch
(8) full bag zipper
(9) resonable price
(10) simple to operate and understand and so lightweight

In some ways it almost looks more modern and streamlined than the cheap plastic bag less machines they sell now.
Seems like it might be just the ticket for an older person with carpet.

I have a 1934a which is the same vacuum, only difference is the color and labelling. They're neat machines and I like that they still sell them. I don't care for the plastic handle though, as it feels kind of flimsy. The bags are kind of hard to change as well, being the F&G style, but as you said they hold a lot. Mine is also very loud, not sure if they all are or just mine.

I have an older Mighty Mite as well. The new ones are still good, the only thing I don't like is they are 12 amps which is too much for a straight suction machine, in my opinion. It makes them very loud.

That is a GREAT vacuum for the money,light and quiet too! Cleans well. Sanitaires have all that but are not as light and cost a little more. Wish the cord was longer than 20 ft., you cought install a longer cord easily!

I know what you are saying about the Mighty Mite. I have one from about 8-10 years ago and it is pretty quiet. We had an older friend buy one for her small apartment and it looked the same as mine but was much louder. She likes it and it replaced a Fuller Brush canister that only lasted her a couple of years and the motor went bad.

I have heard of the Sanitaires but the ones I have seen were much more expensive and heavy. I was just wondering if this Eureka would do as good a job as a cheap
Hoover or Bissell and still be very light to an older person to use who has limited funds and a small space to clean.

Yes,they are very good at carpet cleaning,being a direct air with beater BAR and brush. The brush can be changed out to a double row brush for even better cleaning on glue down carpets which don't need a beater bar.

Here is a great YouTube Clip (produced by someone at Vacuumland?) showing the 12amp Mighty Mite III (there were two earlier versions dating back to the 1980's and 1990's).....very simple but powerful vac...

Nice long 8 foot hose!

The only thing I don't like about it is the useless upholstery nozzle/dusting brush combo tool.

Better to get the Sanitaire red version that has more deluxe attachments including a German-made, steel-sole plated, carpet/floor nozzle. You get three separate "World Vac" style attachments which store on the telescopic wand...

I had a Eureka Mighty Mite

When they first came out. They were so much better built than they are today. It came with great attachements and a button lock hose connection.
