Changing things around on my Hoover 105

I so need that bag Wow. I just LOVE that bag. My 105 spews dust like a crop duster. Re: Red paint comment. No, The 105 (circa 1921) has a rough cast aluminum housing and was painted silver by the factory. I have two 105's - with one having had green paint from somebodys attempt to make...

Reasonable Price For A Coffee Can Hoover?

Coffee in my hoovah I probably have eight or nine coffee can Hoovers ranging from 105 to 725. If you wanted a really functional coffee can - the 725 would be a great choice. It’s motor is smooth and powerful, and the beater bar set it apart from earlier models. If you wanted way cool looking...

RE: KirbyClassicIII - Royal model question - serial number Oops. My bad. The ID plate is corroded. Really hard to see what's printed. I goofed. Here is what I can make out: Model - 608. The word "model" was covered in grime when I first looked at it. Serial number: Very hard to read - it...

Best Estate Sale finds to date

So I responded to a Craigslist ad for 6 Kirby vacuums and accessories for $20.00. Picture was not very clear. I saw 4 older Kirby’s plus an early GE, and a Royal commercial. It was a drive, so I asked them to hold it for a few hours. Showed up, and the family was extremely happy to see...

The Hoover Special / What did I just buy?

I'd say that it started it's life as either a Hoover 105, or 541. The Hoover plate is similar in design to the original 541, but that might be what was on the shelf when they rebuilt it.

    Compact Electra C9 confusion .

I agree with Tom on continuous HEPA filtration from an air purifier. Vacuuming removes a lot of bulk and general dirt. When you stop vacuuming - well - your body is still producing dead skin cells.

I was robbed, robbed I tell you

Auctions can be disasters like Tom points out. Never go above your maximum practical limit when using auction assistant programs. Unless it’s “one of one”, you can probably find it again.

    Let's Start A Revelation

Straight suction Soo right. I never imagined that a straight suction machine would work as well as my Kirbys. My C6 is all of that. After a visit with Tania, I was convinced. The rug tool is spectacular. Sucks up dog and cat hair perfectly.

    Compact C6 found today

Visit with Tania The term “holy grail” means a lot of things. Most of the time it’s referribg to a thing. I’ll use that term to describe a person. Met Tania today. She is the holy grail of Compacts. Duane at my local vacuum shop changed out the crumbly motor filter, and set me up with new...

    Compact C6 found today

Tania It was GREAT chatting with you!!! What a wealth of information you have about Compacts! Sorry if I talked your ear off. You gave me a lot of practical knowledge. Per your advice, I’m going to clean it up and take care of the motor filter. Also - keep it as delivered without adding...

Some old vacuums outperform the new ones

Huskyvacs The Arco Wand has a large electric motor. No idea what the voltage is. It appeared to be original, with the only changes made for the air / vacuum couplings.

Some old vacuums outperform the new ones

Correct Duane was very cordial when I introduced myself as a collector. He had some great stories, and showed me his interesting collection. He shared pictures from the VCCC convention in Wisconsin. I hope that he logs into Vacuumland in the near future.
