    Royal 501

Still need to make a gasket for the bag ring and get a new belt but here's how it looks all polished and cleaned up. Gave all the metal parts and the painted area a nice coat of car wax. Really happy with how it turned out. Thanks again Lesinutah for the bag! Looks great on this little guy...

    Royal 501

Lesinutah That sounds awesome! I'd love to see how yours comes out. As soon as I figure out what to replace the bag gasket with I'll get a few pics up. Did find some large diameter O rings at the hardware store the other day. Wondering if one of those would work. Didn't have the vac with me...

    Royal 501

Lesinutah Thanks again for the bag! I just got it today and have all ready washed it in the bathtub and it's now drying. If I actually owned the buffing equipment I used I would be happy to do yours but it belongs to my friend and we're getting close to the point where we're going to tear...

    Royal 501

KirbyClassicIII Awesome thanks! I was wondering how old this thing was. I was kind of thinking it was from maybe the 80's but wasn't sure.

    Royal 501

Here's a before buffing and after buffing pic. I'd like to take it to Odowd's when I'm all said and done with this machine and see what he thinks about how well I did since I've been told he's one of the masters of vacuum buffing.

    Royal 501

Friend gave me this Royal 501 a few weeks back when he was teaching me how to buff Kirbys at his shop. He's closing the store down and said he didn't really have a need for it so asked if I wanted it. Was able to locate a bag for it and last night he let me use his buffer and buffed the nozzle...

Looking for a Royal 501 bag

Helping my friend get some machines finished up so he can close up his Kirby store and while I was there he gave me this Royal 501 but said he didn't have the bag for it. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas where I could find one or had one for sale. Thanks!

Can you use inner bag in Kirby III?

I've also done the same thing that Ben recommended where I took the bag and mini emptor from a Heritage II and installed it on a Classic Ω that I redid for my dad for fathers day.

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Thanks guys I appreciate the help with getting this figured out. Actually not too difficult once you do it a few times (and finally figuring out do it without releasing the spring tension before you get the clip installed lol)

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Finished up the tool today and it worked great! I think the dowel pin should have stuck out maybe .010 to .020" more but it worked and now the handle stands up like it should with plenty of spring tension.

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Yeah I did see the tool on ebay but I figured I would try and save a few bucks (free to make it since it's just left over scrap steel at work that we would just throw in the recycle bin). If it does not work then I'll end up buying the real tool.

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Started machining a handle tool Just about have the handle spring tool finished up. Found a piece of scrap steel at work and spent an hour tonight turning it down on the lathe. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the hole for the pin and the pin installed and drill a hole in the end for a handle...

Have I converted to the dark-side with Hoover vacuums after the VCCC

Dang those look nice! Did you do any repainting on them or did they just clean up that well? I need to keep an eye out for one of these, might be interesting to have another machine besides a Kirby.

    Looking for Kirby bag spring

Trying to locate either a replacement spring for a kirby bag (the one that holds it to the emptor)or a replacement bag for a Kirby Classic 1CR. If anyone has anything like that please let me know Thanks!

    Kirby bag spring

Does anyone know if the bag springs can be found anywhere or will I have to find a donor bag with a decent spring in it to fix mine (or a replacement Classic bag)

    Kirby bag spring

Darn. I was hoping it was what I needed but I think you're right. After getting one in the mail it's about the size of the outlet on the fan housing.

    Kirby bag spring

Does anyone know if this is the correct spring to replace the one that holds the cloth bag to the emptor on a Kirby? I bought one and it just got here today but it looks really small http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kirby-Eureka-Ring-Vacuum-Bag-Garter-Tube-Spring-Metal-Ring-48410-460SP-/172008068599

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Awesome! One more question I have is how tight of a fit is the spring tool in the hole for the handle pin? Got some measurements today to machine my own tool at work but want to make sure I don't make it too loose

    My Kirby's

Awesome! Glad to hear that they're supposed to be like that and are not defective.

    Kirby handle spring replacement

Awesome thanks! I'm guessing assuming it might be a little tricky winding that spring because from reading through the instructions it does not sound too hard but the guy at the Kirby shop told me that he hates replacing those. So if I understand right that tool just has a pin in the center...
