I have a Kirby Classic III and was wondering why you cant use an inner dust bag? I just bought a new outer bag as the old one was really dirty and smelly. I also bought an inner bag that fits over the tub fine. I have not put the inner and outer bag on yet but I have turned it and ran it with just the bag on with no problems. Why can you not use the Classic III with the inner bag? Thanks!

It's true. The Kirby Classic III 2CB was the last machine which did not officially have the option of disposable bags; that honor being reserved for its successor, the Tradition 3CB.

However, there are quite a few CIIIs out there that have the Eureka F&G-style bag conversion systems, but these are known to reduce suction a lot. Nowadays, for disposable bag operation it is recommended to buy a Heritage II Mini-Emtor setup, and reuse the CIII bag top, and use the new-style poly HEPA bags for satisfactory operation.

Volleybiggs,

Ben is correct. There are conversion kits out there that will allow you to use an inner bag on the C III. However those setups restrict the airflow of the C III reducing performance considerably. You are better off to just stay with the current ShakeOut bag configuration.

I've also done the same thing that Ben recommended where I took the bag and mini emptor from a Heritage II and installed it on a Classic Ω that I redid for my dad for fathers day.

What happens if i use disposable bag

I have a kirby dispossable bag that fits on the tube and in the bag. what happens if I just it thanks

I have found that the pre disposable bag era Kirby's perform just as well or even better with the Mini emptor set up from the Heritage II model.

I used that bag set up on an Omega model and worked great. I have a 517 and the air flow is even better than with the shake out bag. I also used it on a Kirby Classic model (1970 - 1972 era) to clean up the dry chemicals from a fire extinguisher. Kirby worked great and it was the perfect choice. That dry chemical will go right thru a shake out bag.

That's the beauty of Kirby's evolutionary design approach. Older machines can often be retrofitted with newer parts to achieve enhanced functionality.

Here Is My

Classic III bought new in 1976 and sent back to the factory for a rebuild. Kirby offered a paper bag conversion which was the Legend II bag assembly with original red trim. Works wonderfully. This is a daily driver.

I agree with kirbyvertibles...

That modern bag complements the wood grain trim on the handle quite nicely for a very classy looking '70s vibe that's both classic and contemporary at the same time. If I were restoring an Omega, I'd be sorely tempted to copycat that thing.

For what it's worth, I don't see that as bojack or or a frankenvac. It's more of a restomod.

Thank guys. I actually copycat someone in here. I googled and saw that picture. I had do mine. I still have original handle. I'm afraid going break. It makes cracking noises since its two pieces.
