Those of you who know me will be shocked by the following pics because you know my favorite vacs are Kirby's. After seeing so many Hoovers at the 2016 VCCC in the Chicagoland area, I had to give a shot at trying to make old, beat up Hoover's look pretty again.

The brush rolls: have been completely taken apart, have been cleaned, bearings were degreased and then greased, were painted black - youtube video of this process to follow shortly.

The hoods have been polished to shine again - the process even brought back the original colors in most areas - some areas of the hoods still need a little work.

The Hoover bags have seen better days and so have the headlight inserts - and I dont know how to fix em... I also need to find some of the rubber ends for the foot switches as I am missing some or the colors do not match - so maybe the rubber parts are still availabe??

I will get photos posted of the completed vacs tomorrow showing the bags and handles, underside, etc.

mike, some models didnt have the rubber covers over the foot pedals and most of them didnt match the machine in the later years. most were off white or taupe if they didnt match the machine if they had them. far as the vinyl bags or headlight lenses . thats vacuum shop picking really will be the only place to find nos or better quality replacements, in my experience. solid color hoover bags can have the custom vinyl dye mixed that matches the hood so you can redo the bumpers handle grips etc. what youve done is very good. some stuff just cant be revitialized as easy as with kirby stuff. especially the vinyl and plastic parts

oh nooooooo Mike it's now to late for you sorry but once you go Hoover you can't go back lol

These look fantastic!! Hoover convertibles are my ultimate favorite vacuums. So I'm going to ship all my 70+ convertibles to you to do this for me hehehe now lets see who would I use for freight......

I look forward to seeing the youtube video on the painting process.

Mike, don't resist the call of the Hoover. Let the warm Hoovery goodness wrap around you and comfort you like a soft blanket. The Hoover is your friend. You need the Hoover.

Dang those look nice! Did you do any repainting on them or did they just clean up that well? I need to keep an eye out for one of these, might be interesting to have another machine besides a Kirby.
